Bruins Down Bombers 7-3

The Flin Flon Bombers lost their fourth straight game on the road and come home with no points after losing 7-3 last night to the Estevan Bruins.

Estevan's Zach Goberis led the way with the hat -trick picking up his league leading 14th,15th and 16th goals of the year.

Other Bruin goals came from Chekay(4), Manz (2) and Fletcher (6).

The Bomber goals came from Shumlanski (4), Lanfermann (3) and Hooper (4).

Estevan out shot Flin Flon 34-27 and this was the first official start for Winnipeg's Niklas Anderson who ended up making 27 saves in his first SJHL start as a Bomber.

Anderson got relief duty in both the Notre Dame and Weyburn games Thursday  and Saturday.

This was a tough trip for the Bombers defensively who gave up 26 goals in the 4 game road trip and were actually one of the better defensive teams in the league before hitting the road Tuesday.

Through 13 games Flin Flon has given up 44 goals which has them ranked 8th in the league defensively, with only Laronge, Melville, Yorkton and Estevan giving up more.

After the weekend the Bomber record sits at 5-5-0-3, and they sit third in the Sherwood Division, 1 point behind Nipawin. The Hawks do have 4 games in hand.

Estevan improve to 10-2-1 and not only sit first in the Viterra Division but second overall. Melfort leads the Bruins by 1 point and they have both played 13 games.

Next up for the Bombers will be a pair of games on the road this weekend, hitting Laronge Friday and a re-match of last year's SJHL final with Battleford Stars on Saturday.

Both games on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com, with the Great North GM Coach's Show hitting the air 8:15 MB time both games.
