Bombers Battle Bruins

The Flin Flon Bombers will be back in action tomorrow night, when they will once again welcome the Estevan Bruins to the Whitney Forum.

The Bruins were just in Flin Flon back on November the 9th, and beat the Bombers 4-3 in OT .  The game did end in a little bit of controversy with how Estevan celebrated the OT goal.

Arthur Miller who the Bruins just picked up from the Western league, scored the OT  goal then went to centre ice to celebrate on the Bomber logo.

Let's just say the Bombers were less than impressed and Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan commented on the incident. " I don't think anybody should be going to an opposing team's centre ice and logo and try to stamp their mark on their logo. I think it is insulting to our organization, and it is something I don't think they would appreciate it if we did the same thing in their building. There is no question our guys took note of it and we are pretty fired up to play."

Incident aside,  the Bombers need to win a hockey game and are just 2-7-1 in their last 10 and are fresh off a 5-1 loss in Nipawin on Friday. Flin Flon is a much better team at home though and own a respectable 6-2-1-2 record at the Whitney Forum.

If Flin Flon has any hope of trying to move up the standings in the division they will need to start stringing wins together soon,  and are currently 13 points behind second place Nipawin and 18 points behind front running Melfort.

The Bruins are one of the top teams in the league at 16-8-2 and sit first in the Viterra Division,  and second overall with 34 points.

Estevan is on a current Northern road trip where they are one and one with a 2-1 loss to Nipawin and a 5-3 win in Laronge last night. They lead the season series with the Bombers two  games to none.

Mike Reagan also commented today , with the December 1st deadline coming up, he would like to add a puck moving defenseman before he heads off to Calgary for Team West try-outs. He is also hoping to complete the Kurtis Rutledge deal.

Congratulations to the Bomber's rookie Crystopher Collin who is one of 9 players from the SJHL who will get a tryout for Team West next wek in Calgary. Collin is the SJHL Rookie leader with goals (13) and second in points (21).

We will broadcast tomorrow night's game against the Bruin's and I always look forward to these matchups with the great rivalry that has developed over the years. Every time these two teams go head to head it is special.

We are on the air with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30. Don't forget the Bomber/Melfort Mustang game that was postponed back on November the 1st will be made up this Sunday November the 26th at 7:30.
