The Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba is highlighting the crucial work nurses are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic for National Nurses Week.

Executive Director Doctor Cheryl Cusack explains they continue to be really resilient and adaptable even though they’re facing highly traumatic experiences right now and working with COVID has been very hard.  She says they’re having concerns of mental health issues and retention in the field that is concerning but at the same time new nurses are coming in, nurses are keeping educated and graduated and nurses who are working with COVID are adapting, they’re being very innovative, they’re delivering services in new ways, more virtual care for instance and continuing to be there for patients and clients.

Cusack goes on to acknowledge the leadership and dedication of nurses in the province and encourages Manitobans to recognize and celebrate the work nurses have been doing via social media.
