The transformation at Camp Whitney continues as they continue to recover from a fire that took place a couple of summer’s ago.

 

The Director of Works and Operations for the City Of Flin Flon,  Mike Funk   is very pleased with the progress that is being made. " It is going amazingly well, I was very surprised and excited to see the progress when I was out there last week. Our main cook building is assembled, the structure is up and everything looks really good. When you go around that building,  there will be a full wrap around deck and the larger side of the deck will be facing the lake. We have essentially taken that building and turned it 90 degress, so it is going to be facing the water, which the other building didn't have. What we have also done is  built a proper water building. One thing  that we did make a small change on was the first cabin which  now is larger and more accessible." 

 

They have also built two additional cabins that were destroyed in the fire. Funk also mentioned that if the progress continues to go well they hope to re-open for the summer of 2027.

 

There is still a lot of cleanup that needs to happen including material that needs to be cleaned up from the fire including walk ways, electrical and plumbing that are hidden under some debris.
