After a 6 day break the Flin Flon Bombers will get back on the ice when they host the Yorkton Terriers tomorrow night at the Whitney Forum.

After a tough October, the Bombers are really rolling with six straight wins including back to back wins over the Nipawin Hawks last weekend.

Saying that,  some tough news for the club as leading scorer Carter Anderson has left the Bombers  to join the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL.

Flin Flon will miss Anderson's 14 goals including 7 on the powerplay,  but this may be an opportunity for some of the other players to step up. I am sure Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan won't sit still,  and will no doubt be looking to add another player that may be able to come in and fill that void. 

I will certainly miss watching Carter play and he  is certainly  one of the most explosive skaters I have seen in a long time. I wish him the best of luck in Chiliwack.

The Bombers still have plenty of talented forwards that can find the back of the net including Keefe Gruener, Leighton Carruthers, Anthony Piccininno, Ryder Ringor, Koen Senft and Carter Cormier.

Flin Flon will be put to the test tomorrow as they will face a Yorkton team that has already beaten them twice including a 3 to 0 shutout at the Whitney Forum back on October the 22nd.

The Terriers are back on the ice tonight in Nipawin after a 5 day break,  as their game against Weyburn this past Tuesday was postponed due to an ice plant problem.

This is a huge game in the standings with the Terriers leading the Bombers by 1 point for fourth overall with a game in hand. The Terriers also come in to town on a roll and are 8 -2 in their last 10 games.

Yorkton may have the deepest group of offensive forwards in the league and are led by Captain Jaron Desnoyers who is second in overall scoring with 28 points in 20 games.

The Terriers also have some rookies that are having great years with 3 rookies all in the top 15 of rookie scoring including Vinay Junek, Thomas Runak and Tyler Palin.

Congratulations to two members of the Flin Flon Bombers who have been invited to attend Canada West's Selection Camp in Calgary.

They are forward Koen Senft who has 21 points in 22 games and smooth skating defenseman Luke Lepper who has picked up 12 points in 22 games.

Both these players competed in the recent SJHL/MJHL Western All Star Showcase and were impressive.

December the 3rd all the invitees will take part in a pair of intrasquad games as part of the final evaluation process by the coach's and management staff.

The final rosters will be announced December the 5th with the tournament starting December the 9th in Camrose.

Other players invited from the SJHL include Jaxon Herchak (Kindersley), Connor Miller (Humboldt, Jacob Strizzi (Humboldt) and Oakley McILwain (Humboldt) .

One of the most fun Flin Flon Minor Hockey Tournaments will take place at the Whitney Forum and Sportex this weekend.

It will be the 24th annual Mel Pearson U-9 Tournament as Flin Flon will welcome in teams from The Pas, Thompson, Snow Lake and Swan River.

Games start tomorrow with the first game at the Whitney Forum at 3 between the Pas Huskies Red and Flin Flon Firemen.

First game at the Sportex is The Pas Huskies White VS Flin Flon Ford Lightning.

Round robin will continue throughout the weekend with the playoff rounds starting Sunday at 9:30.

The Mel Pearson Cup will be played Sunday at 1: 30 at the Whitney Forum.

Basketball try-outs were recently held at Creighton school for the Seniors, and the teams have been selected with the season now just a few weeks away.

The Senior Girls team will be coached by Connie Atkinson, Sarah Allan and Brooke Koczka.

The Girls first tournament is in the Pas on December the 13th and 14th, with their first home tournament January the 10th and 11th.

The Boys are coached by Nevin O'Donnell and their first tournament is December the 6th and 7th in Hudson Bay.  They will also be in the Pas on December the 13th and 14th.

It was a special night for the Creighton Kodiak Football team as they officially wrapped up the season with their Awards Banquet at the Creighton Community Hall.

The Kodiaks are coming off one of their strongest years to date finishing the year at 4-2 and finished  second in their conference and also became  the first Northern team to ever make the provincial bracket.

This was also the tenth year of the football program that has an overall record of 41-21.

Among the highlights of the year included their first ever road win down south in Shellbrook and Josh Trumbley passing for the most touchdowns in a season.

Flin Flon Bomber Captain  Cole Tanchuk is being rewarded for his fine play this past weekend against the Nipawin Hawks.

Tanchuk has been in the SJHL for the past four seasons,  and scored two goals in a game for the very first time on Saturday, both on the powerplay.

Cole also added an assist for a three point game as the Bombers swept the home and home with Nipawin and picked up their 6th straight win and Tanchuk  was selected the SJHL Super U Defenseman Of The Week.

Flin Flon won't be back on the ice til they face the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday night with puck drop at the Whitney Forum at 7:30.

The Bombers are currently sitting fifth overall at 12-9-1, just one point behind the Terriers as they will meet for the third time this season.

Yorkton  won the two previous meetings including a 3 -0 shutout at the Forum back on October the 22nd.

The Flin Flon Ski Club is ready for the season and will be hosting their open house this Sunday from 11 to 4 at the Chalet.

Fresh Air Experience will be there with lots of specials on all the latest equipment.

Hot ski waxing will also be available , you will be able to  find out more about youth programming, purchase memberships and equipment rental.

The Flin Flon Ski Club offer some of the best trails in North America   that include 28km of beautifully groomed trails,  as well as lights, so you can ski at night.

It was a great weekend for both the U-13 Kinsmen Bombers and the U-11 Peds Threads Bombers who both travelled out of town this past weekend.

The U-13 Kinsmen Bombers were at the Wescana Inn Tournament in the Pas and took on their Northern rivals from Thompson and The Pas.

 The Bombers started off their weekend on Friday with a 4-1 lost to The Pas Huskies but didn’t look back after that. Despite a tough schedule on Saturday which saw  the Bombers play three  games they got things back on track.

A tie and a win over the Thompson King Miners and a win over the Huskies put the Bombers in first place after round robin play. The finals featured the Bombers and the host Huskies in another edition of the battle of highway 10.

The Bombers jumped out to a 1-0 lead but the Huskies tied things up at 1. From there the Bombers took control of the game and went on to win 4-1.

Goal scorers in the final were Aiyden Kemp, Bentley Crone, Cohen Banting and Jagear Dominey. Eli Chrisp stood tall in net to record the victory. The Bombers will now enjoy a few weeks off before they head to Swan River December 14th to the 16th.

The U-11 Peds Threads Bombers were in Nipawin for their first tournament of the year.

The Bombers rolled over the competition beat the Nipawin White Hawks 14-0, then the Nipawin Black Hawks 9 to 1, the Melfort Stallions 10 to 0, then Kelvington 13 to 1.

That put the Bombers in the final where they beat te Melfort Stallions 7 to 1, to go undefeated and out score their opposition 53 to 3.

One of the highlights of the weekend was a chance to get a picture with the Junior Bombers who were also in Nipawin for a game on Saturday night.

It took only 26 seconds for the Bombers to find the back of the net on Friday night and they never looked back picking up the 5 to 1 win over the Nipawin Hawks  at the Whitney Forum.

Ryder Ringor opened the scoring with his 9th of the season with Carter Anderson (13), Joey Lies (1) and Luke Lepper (2) all hitting the score sheet before the end of the first period.

That was enough to chase starting goalie Nathan Claydon who surrendered 4 goals on 17 shots with little help. Flin Flon did get one puck past Gage Roberts when Keefe Gruener slipped a puck through a maze of players in front of the Hawk net to make it 5  zip early in the second.

Nipawin settled down after that and Roberts was lights out the rest of the way making 31 saves on 32 shots. The Hawk's lone goal came from Carter Anderson when he  took advantage of a two on one to deflect a puck over Kenny Marquart's left shoulder.

Kenny didn't get a lot of work but was good when he had to be and finished with 15 saves. 

Without the fine play of Roberts and a stagnant Bomber powerplay this game could of been a lot worse. The Bombers went 1 for 11 and that included four 5 on 3's.

These two teams collided in Nipawin on Saturday and once again the Bombers got the best of their Sherwood Division opponents rolling to the 5 to 2 win.

Captain Cole Tanchuk led the way with a pair of powerplay goals for his first and second of the season. Carter Anderson got his second in as many games and now leads the team with 14. Anthony Piccininno (3) and Leo Seits (2) rounded out the scoring.

Van Taylor (2) and Finley Radloff (5) scored the Hawk goals.

The reigning SJHL Goalie Of The Week, Matthew Kieper picked up his fourth win as a Bomber stopping 30 of 32 with Gage Roberts getting the start for Nipawin and he stopped 50 of 55.

Flin Flon definately have the Hawks number and picked up their fourth straight win against them this season,  and have now beaten them 10 straight times.

After a very bad October, it looks like the Bombers have hit their stride with their 6th straight win to improve to 12-9-1, good for fifth spot.

This might be the tightest leader board I remember seeing , with Flin Flon just one point behind Battleford and Yorkton for third and two points behind second place Weyburn.

On the other side of the coin, the Bombers are just two points up on 9th place Kindersley. Every gane really does mean something and the standings seem to be  changing every single night.

The Bombers won't play again til Saturday when they welcome the Yorkton Terriers to town who have already beat Flin Flon twice this season.

The Terriers are the most improved team in the league this year and will give the Bombers all they can handle on Saturday.

The Flin Flon Bombers enter the weekend playing their best hockey of the season riding a four game winning streak.  

Fresh off two wins in Kindersley, the Bombers currently sit 9th overall at 10-9-1, just one point back of Melville for the final playoff spot.

The Maroon and White get set to take on the Nipawin Hawks in a home and home at the Whitney Forum tonight and back at the Cage tomorrow.

It seems like an eternity since the Bombers played a home game and the Forum should be rocking tonight.

Nipawin comes to town in the basement of the SJHL standings with a record of 3-12-1-1, but are fresh off their biggest win of the season. The Hawks went into Humboldt on Saturday and blanked the Bronco's 1 to 0. 

The Hawks almost beat the Melfort  Mustangs the night before blowing a 3 to 2 lead with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game and eventually lost in overtime.

This will be the third meeting of the season between these two teams with the Bombers winning the previous two games on opening night 4 to 3,  and their most recent meeting in Nipawin 5 to 2 back on November the 9th.

The Hawks came out and played an exceptional first period but couldn't put the Bombers away with a lot of early powerplays. Flin Flon got better as the night went on and took advantage of their opportunities.

Flin Flon is finally starting to score and have found the back of the net 18 times in their last four games with a number of the veterans stepping up.

Carter Anderson has found his scoring touch from last year and has scored six goals in the last five games,  including an absolute beauty in OT against Kindersley last Saturday.

Carter Cormier, Anthony Piccininno, Ryder Ringor and Rhett Ewen are all starting to find their scoring touch as well.

It looks like the addition of Matthew Kieper has helped restore the goalie position,  and he just received the Sasktel Goalie Of The Week for his performance in Kindersley last weekend.

In the two victories Kieper stopped over 70 shots to go along with a 1.92 GAA and a .946 SV %.

 The ‘A’ side of the tournament will see the Bombers compete with their northern rivals from The Pas and Thompson. The teams will  play each other  twice and the top two teams after round robin play will face off Sunday afternoon for the championship.

The Bombers will play their first game this Friday at 1pm VS The Pas Huskies.

Rest of the round robin will feature the Bombers VS Thomson Saturday at 10:30, The Pas at 1:30 and Thompson once again at 6pm.

Flin Flon Minor Hockey will be  welcoming a couple members of the Flin Flon Bombers for their skill development this weekend.

This is going to be Goalie Development and will feature Kenny Marquart and Mathew Kieper.

It takes place this Sunday November the 24th from 5:30 to 6:45pm.

The Senior Hapnot Queens fresh off a Zone volleyball  title on home turf this past weekend are on their way to Rosenort for Provincials.

The Queens are in a pool with Rosenort, Green Valley, Warren and Killarney.

Games are set to start tomorrow with the Queens playing Rosenort at 4pm. They will then play three games on Friday taking on Green Valley at 9, Warren at 11 and Killarney at 2.

Playoffs will start Saturday ay 9, with the Provincial Final at 5.

Congratulations to Flin Flon Bomber goalie Mathew Kieper on being selected the SJHL Sasktel Goalie Of The Week.

Flin Flon went into Kindersley this past weekend and knocked off the Klippers in both games and Kieper was one of the big reasons why.

Kieper made 70 saves in the two games giving up just 4 goals to go along with a 1.92 GAA and a .946 SV %.

Kieper is 3-0 since arriving from the WHL and has really helped stabilize the Bomber goaltending situation. 

Flin Flon who sit tied for 8th overall,  will put their four game winning streak on the line when they face the Nipawin Hawks this weekend in a home and home.

Friday's game is at the Whitney Forum and then the Bombers will make their way to the Cage on Saturday for our next broadcast of Creighton Furniture Flin Flon Bomber Hockey.

It all begins with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 6:40.

The U-15  Norman Female Wild faced off against the Westman Wildcats in a pair of games this past weekend.

The Wild had to battle some sickness and injuries that led to some lineup changes but battled hard.

Norman dropped the first game in The Pas 9 to 2 on Saturday , then lost in Flin Flon yesterday 15 to 0.

One of the bright spots was Captain Lauryn Nechyporuk who scored both goals in The Pas on Saturday.

There was great attendance at both the Roy H Johnston Arena and Whitney Forum over the weekend and the Wild appreciate your support.

Next up will be a trip to Carmen to play the Pembina Valley Hawks on November the 22nd and 23rd.

It all went according to plan as the Hapnot Queens dominated the competition at Senior Volleyball Zones  this past weekend.

The Queens rolled over Cranberry, ST Theresa Point, Nelson House and Norway House in the round robin.

That would put the Queen's into the playoffs and they would face a very good OCN team who battled the Queen's hard. Hapnot had to come from behind to beat OCN 25 to 18 in the first set. The Queen's settled down and took the second set 25 to 9.

It was the final that everyone wanted to see and expected to see, Hapnot against MBCI out of The Pas.

Hapnot did not disappoint and pulled out the 25 to 10 and 25 to 17  straight sets win. The Queens will now get a chance to go and represent the north for Provincials in Rosenort November the 29th and 30th.

The Hapnot Senior Kings were in OCN for the Boy's Zones. The Kings had a pretty decent weekend after dropping their first two games to OCN and Cross Lake.

The Kings then beat Nelson House and Oxford House to even their record heading into the playoff round. Hapnot put up a good fight against OCN losing 22-25 and 19-25 in the Quarter Finals and saw their season come to an end.

MBCI out of the Pas won the Boy's Zone beating Cranberry in the final.

The Flin Flon Bombers look like they have hit their groove with back to back wins in Kindersley this weekend.

Flin Flon went into Kindersley on Friday and held the home town Klippers to 26 shots in pulling out the 3 to 1 victory.

Rhett Ewen got a late goal in the first period and the Bombers never looked back. Carter Anderson scored the winning goal on the powerplay when he was left alone in front of the net early in the second for his team leading 11th of the season.

It looked like the Bombers were going to hold the Klippers off the score sheet, but veteran Zakery Anderson found the back of the net with just under three minutes remaining in the game.

Kindersley came hard looking for the equalizer but couldn't solve Bomber new comer Matthew Kieper who held the Klippers at bay making 25 saves in the game including 10 in the third period.

Ryder Ringor seeled it when he won a face-off late in the game and fired the puck down the ice into the empty net for his 8th of the season. 

The Bombers took over right where they left off on Saturday and jumped out to a quick 2 to 0 lead in the first period.

Carter Cormier opened the scoring with his 7th of the year and Leighton Carruthers scored his first as a Bomber just a few minutes later.

You have to give the Klippers credit they battled back all night long. Odin George put a Bomber turn over into the back of the net to make it 2 to 1 after one.

Young 17 year old Emerson Clark scored his first goal as a Bomber,  when he snuck a shot in from the point in front of a screened Cody Jaman to restore the two goal lead.

Flin Flon looked pretty good heading into the third with a two goal lead and seemed to have the Klippers where they wanted them.

Former Bomber Dawson Karol scored just 19 seconds into the final period,  when he jumped on a loose puck in front of the Bomber net for his 9th of the year on the powerplay.

That sparked the Klippers who would tie the game with less than three minutes remaining on Cam Perlinger's fourth of the season.

This would force overtime with both teams trading some decent chances and it looked like we might be headed to the shootout.

With only 9 seconds to go Rydor Ringor sprung Carter Anderson for the break away and he went in alone and beat Cody Jaman with one of the nicest deekes I have seen all season.

Flin Flon shocked the West Central Events Centre winning in OT 4 to 3 and have now won 4 in a row. Matthew Kieper was solid once again stopping 45 out of 48 while Cody Jaman made 45 saves on 49 shots.

The Bombers are now tied with Kindersley for 8th overall, the final playoff spot and are only one point behind Melville and two points behind Laronge and Humboldt. 

Flin Flon will get a chance to try and make up some more ground as they will face the Nipawin Hawks in a home and home this weekend. Friday's game is at the Whitney Forum and the Bombers will travel to the Cage in Nipawin on Saturday.

The Flin Flon Bombers are giving kids in Flin Flon Minor Hockey the opportunity to come out and get first hand instruction on the ice with the return of Skills and Drills.

This will be taking place on Sunday December the 1st at the Whitney Forum.

The times are 4 to 5 pm for kids born between 2010 to 2012, and 5:30 to 6:30 pm for kids born between 2013 to 2015.

This is open to both skaters and goaltenders and is $30.00 per player.

The Flin Flon Bombers will put their two game winning streak on the line as they hit the West Central Events Centre tonight to face  a much improved Kindersley Klipper team.

This will be the first meeting between these two clubs since the opening round of the playoffs from this past spring which saw the Bombers sweep them in four straight games.

After a real slow start, Flin Flon has won back to back games for just the second time this season after knocking off Melfort 6 to 2 on Friday and a 5 to 1 win in Nipawin on Saturday.

The Bombers are finally healthy and are very happy to have their veteran Keefe Gruener back in the lineup. Gruener has 13 points in 10 games and is one of the best faceoff men in the entire league. Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan also mentioned they really missed his leadership.

With the additions of two more 20 year old's, goaltender Matthew Kieper and forward Leighton Carruthers, the Bombers feel they are ready to make a move.

High flying forward Carter Anderson is also starting to find the back of the net and leads the team with 10 goals and 16 points in 14 games. Anderson is coming off 4 goals in his last 3 games.

Kindersley is led offensively by a couple of rookies in Jaxon Herchak and Rylan Wieler who have combined for 29 points.

The big story for the Klippers may be their rookie goalie Brett O'Hallorin who leads the league in wins with 10. O'Hallorin also has decent numbers to go along with that including a GAA of 2.95 and a SV % of .906.

Flin Flon will most likely split the duties between incumbent Kenny Marquart fresh off a 23 save win  against Nipawin on Saturday and newly acquired Matthew Kieper who made 24 saves to beat Melfort in his Bomber debut last Friday.

This is definately a big weekend for Flin Flon if they want to move up the standings,  as they trail the Klippers by 3 points with Kindersley having a game in hand. Laronge currently leads the Bombers by 2 points with Flin Flon having two games in hand.

Both games will start at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow at the West Central Events Centre.

Ski Club memberships are now available for the 2024-25 season for the Flin Flon Ski Club.

Membership fees provide a wide range of programs for skiers, coach's and officials that help fund the National Ski Team.

There will  be a showdown between the three U-11 Rep teams from across the North this up coming weekend in Snow Lake.

The U-11 Northland Ford Bombers will join the U-11 Pas Huskies and U-11 Thompson King Miners at the Wilfred T Lipton Arena.

The games will take place on Sunday with Flin Flon playing Thompson at 2pm, The Pas VS Thompson at 3:30 and Flin Flon VS The Pas at 5pm.

It is a big weekend for the Hapnot Queens and Kings who will both compete in Senior Volleyball Zones.

The Hapnot Queens have had a great season and are coming off winning the B-Side at the Spartan Dig in Brandon a few weeks back.

The Queens are ranked third in the province and will host Zones this weekend at Hapnot. The Queens will kick off the tournament against Cranberry at 10 am on Friday.

They will play ST Theresa Point  at 4 and Nelson House at 7. On Saturday they play Norway House at 10. Playoffs begin at 2 and the final is at 4.

The Kings will be in OCN and will play the host team at 9am to open things up on Friday.

The Kings will then play Cross Lake at 2 and Nelson House at 6 before playing their final round robin game against Oxford House on Saturday at 11.

Playoffs will start at 1 with the final at 5.

The Norman U-15 Female Wild will be in action once again this weekend.

The Wild will host the Westman Wildcats in the Pas  on Saturday  1:30 at the Roh H Johnston Arena. They will also play the Wildcats in Flin Flon On Sunday  at 1:30 at the Whitney Forum.

Admission fror both games is five dollars.

The Wild are coming off their home opener in Flin Flon this past weekend against Central Plains  that featured a lot of spectators at the Creighton Sportex and the girls really appreciate everyone's support.

The team is making a point of getting out into the different communities around the North,  and helped make soup and donated the ingredients this past Sunday at the Food Bank in Flin Flon.

Local players from Flin Flon include Janae Neaufeld, Zoey Phair Boucher and Lennex Gannon.

It was a very good weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who won back to back games for just the second time this season.

On Friday,  Flin Flon knocked off one of the league's top clubs in the Melfort Mustangs 6 to 2. The Bombers took advantage of a couple Mustang mistakes early and jumped out to a quick  2 to 0 lead.

Carter Anderson took advantage of a Mustang turn over at their blue line and went in alone and flipped a back hander over Kristian Coomb's left shoulder. Rhett Ewen was then able to re-direct a puck through Coombs's legs just a few minutes later and the Bombers were off and running.

This was Ewen's first ever SJHL goal.

With a 2 to 0 lead in the second, Flin Flon kept coming and Carter Anderson was able to score his second of the night and team leading 9th of the season. Anthony Piccininno, Reid Arberry and Ryder Ringor also found the back of the net.

Reilly Kotai and Rylan Ringor replied for the Mustangs, with the Bombers picking up their second win of the season over the Mustangs 6 to 2.

Matthew Kieper got his first  career start for Flin Flon and was sharp when he had to be making 23 saves on 25 shots. The Mustangs started Kristian Coombs who gave up 4 goals on 14 shots before Madden Mulawka came in relief and stopped 10 of 12.

The Bombers made their way to the Cage in Nipawin on Saturday hoping to ride the momentum of the big win on Friday.

It didn't look good early,  as the Bombers had a tough first period and only managed 5 shots on net and trailed 1 to 0.

The Hawk captain Finley Radloff was able to score a powerplay goal with a quick one timer from the point that beat Kenny Marquart up high.

Flin Flon settled down and played a very good second and third period and Carter Anderson seems to have found his scoring touch once again as he tied the game with a beautiful powerplay goal just over 6 minutes in the second period.

This was Anderson's fifth powerplay goal and tenth overall as Anderson is the first Bomber to hit double figures this season.

That would spark Flin Flon as they were able to get to the Nipawin netminder Nathan Claydon beating him 5 times on 28 shots.

Reid Arberry got his second in as many nights with Carter Cormier getting a pair, his 5th and 6th and Luke Lepper got his first of the season. The former Bomber, Connor Ryan got his first as a Hawk, and  scored the other Nipawin goal as Flin Flon picked up the 5 to 2 victory.

Kenny Marquart was back between the pipes for Flin Flon and once again played well making 22 saves on 24 shots and had to be sharp early with four Nipawin powerplays in the first period.

The Bombers improve to 8-9-1 after the weekend and are currently two points behind Laronge for the final playoff spot,  but do have two games in hand.

Next up for the Maroon and White will be a trip to Kindersley this weekend to face a much improved Klipper team. Kindersley is 7th overall at 10-7 and lead the Bombers by 3 points with a game in hand.

This will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

It was an exciting weekend at the Whitney Forum as the U-15 Norman Northstars hosted the Parkland Rangers in a pair of games.

With players from all over the North,  this was the only time the Northstars would host a game in Flin Flon this season.

On Saturday,  Parkland squeeked out the 4 to 3 win in overtime. Creighton Saskatchewan's Jaxson Gorrell scored his first goal of the season in a losing cause.

Earlier today Parkland prevailed 5 to 2 with Russell Manitoba's Tucker Derkach picking up the game winner.

The Norman goals came from Thompson's Michael Wamboldt and Carson Nukapiak who is from Rankin Inlet.

Norman will head down south for next weekend as they will play a pair of games against Landmark.

It was a great weekend for MBCI out of the Pas who won both the Boy's and Girl's JV Volleyball Zones.

The Boy's Zones were played in the Pas and the Hapnot Kings had a good showing and ended up going 3-4 in the round robin losing to The Pas, beating Norway House and splitting with Cross Lake.

The Kings lost to The Pas again in the semi's and the Pas went on to beat Frontier out of Cranberry in the final.

The Girl's Zone was in Norway House and the Hapnot Queens won their pool beating Norway House, Gillam , Nelson House and Chemawawin.

The Queen's crossed over and ended up losing to MBCI in two  sets in the final.

Senior Zones are this weekend with the Girl's in Flin Flon and Boy's are in OCN.

Good luck to the JV Hapnot Queens and Kings Volleyball teams this weekend who are both competing in Zones.

The Queens are in Norway House and will play Norway House at 2pm and  Nelson House at 8pm. They will  then play Gillam at 9am on Saturday and Chemawawin at 11.

playoffs will start at noon.

The Kings are in The Pas play all three of their round robin games today against The Pas at 2, Cross Lake at 3 and Norway House at 5. Playoffs are tomorrow. 

The Flin Flon Bombers will be back on the ice tonight after a nice 8 day break as they will once again face off against the Melfort Mustangs.

This will be the fifth meeting of the year between the two clubs with Melfort winning 3 of the 4 meetings including the most recent game 3 to 2 on October the 30th.

Tonight's game will be at the Whitney Forum where the Bombers did beat the Mustangs 6 to 3 back on October the 11th.

Melfort come's into tonight's game with the second best record in the SJHL at 11-3 and are an impressive 6-2 on the road. Flin Flon has struggled to score goals and are four points out of the final playoff spot in the league.

At 6-9-1, the Bombers trail Laronge by 4 points for the final playoff spot but do have two games in hand.

Flin Flon has brought in a few new players including forward Leighton Carruthers who has four years of major junior experience and did suit up against the Mustangs on October the 30th.

Carruthers did get an assist in that game when he sent a pass to the front of the Mustang net which was re-directed by Ryder Ringor. Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan was impressed with Carruthers play after travelling from the East Coast and arriving just before game time.

The Bombers have also brought in a veteran goalie in Matthew Kieper who has 77 career games in the WHL, but has not suited up in a game yet this season. Coach Reagan says he will make his debut this weekend either tonight or tomorrow in Nipawin.

Bomber Captain Keefe Gruener is also expected back in the lineup tonight and was the team's leading scorer before getting hurt in early October. Gruener has 11 points in 8 games and should give this struggling team a big boost in his return tonight.

No radio broadcast tonight but we will be back on the air tomorrow from the Cage in Nipawin with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 6:40 and drop of the puck at 7pm.

The curling season is officially underway in Flin Flon at the Uptown Curling Club.

Hot Stove Curling for the men takes place on Monday and Wednesday's at 1pm.

Afternoon Ladies Curling is Tuesday's and Thursday's at 1:15. The new Thursday Night Mixed League is at 7pm.

They are still trying to organize a Friday  Fun Night for a drop in fee of $5.00.

Congratulations to Flin Flon Bomber bench boss Mike Reagan who has been selected to coach Canada West at the World JR A Challenge in Camrose Alberta.

This will be Reagan's fourth time representing Canada West and has won two gold medals as the Video Coach back in 2015 and Head Coach in 2017.

Reagan is currently in his 19th year as the Head Coach and GM of the Bombers and was the GM of the SJHL for the Western Canada Showcase in Warman.

Reagan is also coming off a record setting year with Flin Flon matching the franchise record for wins in a season with 44 and was named not only the SJHL Coach Of The Year, but also the CJHL Coach Of The Year. 

Joning Mike behind the bench will be Eric Labrosse the Head Coach and GM of the OCN Blizzard, Shawn Martin who is the Head Coach of Whitecourt of the AJHL and Carter Hanson from Humboldt who will be the team's Video Coach.

The tournament will include 4 teams with Canada West, Canada East, Sweden and the United States and starts December the 9th.

After dropping a 4 to 2 decision to the MJHL on Tuesday night, the SJHL rebounded with a 2 to 0 win yesterday afternoon at the Western Canada Showcase in Warman.

After a scoreless opening period, the SJHL got both their goals in the second period from Dustin Renas of the Yorkton Terriers and Jadon Iyogun of the Melville Millionaires.

The sensational 19 year old goaltender from the Weyburn Red Wings, Angelo Zol did his job and made 32 saves for the shutout and victory.

The Western Canada Showcase will end up 1-1 and these two leagues will go head to head once again in January.

The Flin Flon Bombers who were once again represented by their Head Coach and GM  Mike Reagan, Luke Lepper and Koen Senft will be back in action this weekend.

The Melfort Mustangs come to town on Friday and lead the season series 3 games to one including a 3 to 2 win in their most recent meeting on October the 30th. Flin Flon will then travel to the Cage in Nipawin on Saturday for the first time this season.

The Creighton Kodiaks football team  will officially call it a season when they host their year end awards banquet on Wednesday November the 20th at the Creighton Community Hall.

Doors open at 6 and the dinner will take place at 6:30 and you will need a ticket to enter. Tickets are $20.00 and can be picked up from Mandy at Creighton  School by Friday November the 15th.

They do except E-Transfers.

This will be an opportunity to celebrate a very successful season which saw a northern based team make the Provincial bracket for the very first time. The night will include a video tribute, send off for the graduating players and awards ceremony with supper courtesy of Chicken Chef.

 Rylan Williams of the Battlefords North Stars and Connor Miller of the Humboldt Broncos both found the back of the net, but it would not be enough as Team MJHL beat Team SJHL 4-2 in Game 1 of the Western All-Star Showcase Tuesday.

The SJHL outshot the visitors 28 to 24 but could only muster 6 shots in the third period. The Flin Flon Bombers Luke Lepper and Koen Seft both played well and both had  an assist in the game.

Waywayseecapo Wolverines forward Dru Mushumanski scored two goals for the MJHLers, while Max Lavoie and Blake Matheson of the Winkler Flyers also scored.

Raiden Legall from the Niverville Night Hawks played the entire game for the MJHL and made 26 saves. Creig Callum who plays for the Yorkton Terriers got the call for the SJHL and made 20 saves in a losing cause.

The two teams will play one more time today at 11:30 and you can watch the stream on Flo TV.

The Norman U-15 AAA Wild will be hosting their home opener this weekend against the Central Plains Capitals.

The games will take place at the Creighton Sportex this Saturday at 7:30 and again on Sunday at 1:30.

Admission is $5.00 but free if you bring a donation towards the Lord's Bounty Food Bank.

The team is excited to be back after not having enough players to ice a team the last couple of seasons. The team consists of players from Cross Lake, Norway House, Thompson, Snow Lake, The Pas and Flin Flon.

The Flin Flon players include: Assistant Captain Janae Neufeld, goalie Zoey Phair Boucher and goalie Lennex Gannon from Snow Lake.

The U-15 AAA Norman Northstars will be playing a pair of games in Flin Flon this weekend.

Norman will host the Parkland Rangers at the Whitney Forum on Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 11am.

Admission is a silver collection at the door and there will be a 50/50 and merchandise sales as well.

There are three players from Flin Flon including Jaxson Gorrell ,  Anthony Pegg and Josh Ford. There is also one player from Cranberry including Reed Grenier.

The Ultimate Stride hockey camp is coming to the Creighton Sportex December the 6th to the 8th.

The camp instructor is Bruce Thompson who has all kinds of experience coaching,  including 7 years as the Head Coach and GM of the Nipawin Hawks and another 4 years coaching the Weyburn Red Wings.

The camp is open to anyone 6 and over and the objective is to teach all the factors on becoming an explosive skater and to cobine fun with sound fundamentals.

The rosters have been selected for the SJHL/MJHL Western All Star Showcase which wil take place in Warman starting tomorrow.

Both teams will be made up of rosters of 20 players including 12 forwards, six defenseman and 2 goalies all 2005 born and younger.

The Flin Flon Bombers had two players chosen including 2005 born defenseman Luke Lepper and 2006 born forward Koen Senft.

Lepper has been one of the most exciting players for the Bombers on their back end,  and has really stepped up his play trying to fill the void after the graduation of some very talented defensemen.

Lepper leads all Bomber defensemen withpoints including 8 assists.

Koen Senft is having a break out year and leads the Bombers in scoring with 14 points including 6 goals in 16 games. He is also the only Bomber in the top 20 in league scoring.

The Bombers are also represented by Head Coach Mike Reagan who is the General Manager of the team and is joined by the coach's  Carter Hanson and Braydon Klimosko of the Humboldt Bronco's .

The biggest high volleyball tournament took place this past weekend in Brandon, the Spartan Dig featuring over 30 schools from right across the province.

The Senior Hapnot Queens ranked third in the province ,  beat Green Valley and Morris in straight sets in the round robin before dropping their final round robin game to Gilbert Plains.

That knocked the Queens down to the B-Side where they beat Hamiota  Neepawa and Virdon  in the semi's and advanced to the final.

Hapnot continued to impress and beat Lorette in the final in an exciting third set 15 to 12 and continue to be one of the top teams right across Manitoba.

The Hapnot Kings also took part and they dropped all their round robin games to Landmark, Green Valley and Faith Academy.

That would knock the Kings down to the C-Side and they battled St Maurice hard losing in three sets and were relegated to the Consolation.

The Kings dropped their final game to Gilbert Plains in three sets but did improve as the tournament went on.

The U13 kinsmen bombers returned home yesterday after competing at the U13A tournament in Prince Albert.

This would be a good test for the Bombers who would get a chance to play some stiff competition.

 The Bombers would begin the weekend with a 4-4 tie with the Saskatoon Icehawks and would finish the round robin play with a 5-4 loss to the Humbolt Broncos.

The Bombers would however edge the icehawks in point percentage to advance to the playoff pool. The quarter finals would see the bombers knock off the Regina Tigers 6-4 in a thrilling game Saturday evening to advance to the semi finals.

Sundays semifinal would have the team square off with the Saskatoon outlaws who would defeat the bombers 7-3 in a game which was 4-3 heading into the third,  however the bombers could not mount the comeback.

The Humbolt Broncos would go on to defeat Saskatoon 5-4 in the finals to be crowned champions. The Kinsmen Bombers now prepare  for the Wescana Inn Cup which will be taking place in  The Pas November 22nd to the 24th.
