The long wait is finally over for one of the most historic sports franchises and best known  hockey clubs on the planet.

The Flin Flon Bombers are SJHL Champions for the first time in 33 years thanks to a 4 game sweep of the Yorkton Terriers in the Canterra Seeds Cup Final.

Flin Flon capped an amazing season with a 2 to 0 win in Yorkton on Thursday night.

The game was scoreless after two periods before Flin Flon's  Daniel Morozov, just back from injury went to work. Morozov took a nice feed from Reid Arberry just over two minutes into the final period and snapped a nice low shot past Terrier netminder Alexandro Montoya to the delight of hundreds of Bomber fans in attendance.

Morozov wasn't done as he would deposit his second of the night and 4th of the playoffs to seal the game at the midway point of the period to give the Bombers a little insurance.

A stingy Bomber defense led by SJHL Goalie Of The Year Charlie Tritt held the fort as the final seconds ticked down and the Bombers picked up the 2 to 0 victory for  the franchises first championship in over 30 years.

Tritt ended up with 25 saves for the win and 4th shutout of the playoffs which I believe may be a new team record.

There was jubilation all over the Bomber Nation from the more than 300 fans who travelled to Yorkton, the fans who gathered at the Whitney Forum to watch on the Jumbotron,  to  fans watching on tv or listening to the radio across the country and globe.

This is something some fans have been waiting a lifetime for after coming so close many times before. Flin Flon had  been to the final dance 5 other times including 4 of the last 5 years only to see their season end in heart break. The final against Estevan back in 2022 is still fresh on a lot of fans minds including mine, thinking If Only They Had Called A Penalty on the Trip of Drew Kuzma in the dieing seconds which allowed the Bruins to tie the game then eventually win in Over Time in game five.

The Bombers returned home to hammer Estevan in game six only to lose game 7 in Estevan's barn after a dramatic run that year.

Flin Flon was not going to be denied this time and after a tough 7 game semi final win over the Weyburn Red Wings , the Bombers brimming with all kinds of confidence were the better team for the entire league final.

The Bombers took game one at the Whitney Forum 7 to 3 and never looked back out scoring Yorkton 18 to 6 in the four games chasing Terrier starting goalie Callum Creig  on two different occasions.

This was an incredible team assembled by long time Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan which didn't have any superstars but a lot of really good two way players with a lot of heart. I have broadcast games for this franchise for the last 30 years and I don't remember a complete team like this.

They ran four lines all season with 7 very capable defensemen and the best one two punch in between the pipes. All season long the players commented about how tight a group it was and they proved it every time they stepped on the ice.

The fans are second to none and I know I will never forget the electric Whitney Forum atmosphere which was very fun to be a part of , not to mention broadcast in front of.  

This is obviously special for long time Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan who grew up in Flin Flon and played for the team in the late 90's. Reagan was actually hired as an Assistant Coach in 2007 but was handed the Head Coaching reigns just prior to the start of the season.

The rest is history as Reagan is the winningest  coach in the franchise’s  history with over 600 coaching victories, not to mention has been behind the bench for over 1000 games. A league title was the only thing missing from his resume and Reagan finally has that after many years of hard work and decication.

Reagan was on the CFAR Post Game Show after the Championship victory on Thursday night. " I feel incredible, I feel like the smokestack has been lifted off my shoulders right here. As you know this has been a long time coming as it isn't about me, it is about our community and every guy that put that Bomber jersey on. Past board members, fans, family and people like Cole McCaig who I wish was still here right now. Lots of former players were here and there are so many people I want to thank including former President Hank Kozar and Paul Garret who gave me a chance to coach this team at a young age."

Local product and four year player Joey Lies was elated  after the win as well. " This means everything to me , everyone here including all our fans, former team mates, my family, this is unreal. This has been what we have been working for the last four years and man it feels so good."

The final icing on the cake was the trade with the Humboldt Broncos when the Bombers added forward Connor Miller, defenseman Ryder Knutson and goalie Charlie Tritt on January the 10th.

All three players were instrumental in the team's success with Connor Miller selected as the SJHL MVP after leading the team in goals (9) and points (15). Miller also won a lot of big faceoffs and was a terrific leader.

Charlie Tritt ended up 11-3 with 4 shut-outs and a GAA of 1.67 and Save % of .938, while Knutson was a anchor on the Bomber blueline and contributed 8 points including two goals. One of his biggest goals was the game winner in Weyburn in game three of the SJHL Semi Final.

The Flin Flon Bombers will now represent the SJHL at the Centennial Cup in Summerside PEI between May the 7th and 17th. This will be the Bombers 

fourth time at the National Championship after winning in 1993, hosting in 2001, runner up in Estevan in 2022 and winning it all in 2026.

Not a bad way to celebrate as the Bombers get ready to celebrate their 100th season. You can say that it was just meant to be.

Due to the weather and field maintenance, Flin Flon Creighton Minor Ball has had to delay the start of their season.

The season will now begin on Monday May the 4th.

Registration continues for all the divisions from 5-U to 18-U.

The cost is $70.00 for 5-U to 9-U and $85.00 for 11-U to 18-U. There is also a $20.00 discount for any returning players from 2025. The first 100 people to register will be entered for a chance to win a free registration.

Online registration continues for the Phantom Lake Soccer Club as they prepare for their 40th season.

That includes all the Divisions from U-3 Timbits to U-15 to 17, plus all the travel teams.

The Phantom Lake Soccer Club are also recruiting referees which includes small sided 12 to 13 and entry level 14 plus as well as adult referees. There will be clinics before the season starts for anyone who would like to become a referee, and you can use the course for volunteer hours.

The indoor season continues til the end of April at the Sportex with the outdoor season expected to start in early May as soon as all the snow is gone.

It was a dominating weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who squared off with the Yorkton Terriers  at the Whitney Forum to kick off the Canterra Seeds Cup Final.

Both teams came off a gruelling 7 game series in the SJHL Semi Final with not a lot of rest entering game one on Friday night.

Flin Flon took advantage of the loud  boisterous crowd and a red hot powerplay to take game one by a score of 7 to 3.

It took just over four minutes for the Bombers to find the back of the net as Landon Alexander jumped on a rebound in front of the Yorkton net to make it 1 to 0  and Flin Flon  never looked back.

Nathan Lalumiere and Wyatt Stinton would also score in the first period with Yorkton getting a powerplay goal from Gabriel Courchesne to cut the deficit to 3 to 1.

It looked like the Bombers were going to run away with it once Wyatt Stinton scored his second of the game at the midway point of the second period, as the Bombers jumped out to a 4 to 1 lead.

The two teams got into a run and gun and Yorkton took advantage of a couple Bomber miscues and scored two goals 30 seconds apart courtesy of the  top SJHL Defenseman Of The Year  Thomas Ries and Austin Horbachewski

That would quiet the crowd as the Terriers were all of a sudden within one goal at 4 to 3. Everyone knows how explosive their offense is and this is the type of game they like to play in.

Unfortunately for Yorkton, penalties would cost them and Flin Flon’s Rhett Ewen would bang home a rebound on the powerplay and the Bombers would take a 5 to 3 lead after two periods.

Flin Flon kept coming and scored a couple of goals late courtesy of Connor Miller who  picked up his team leading 8^th of the playoffs and Braydon Bruce collected his first.

Special teams were one of the big factors with the Bombers going 3 for7  with the extra attacker while Yorkton ended up 1 for 3.

Bomber netminder Charlie Tritt was fantastic once again making 32 saves on 35 shots. Flin Flon chased Yorkton  starter  Callum Craig  with 4 goals  on 25 shots, then got three past backup Alexandro Montoya on 18 shots.

It was a great way to start the finals to the delight of over 1100 fans who were in attendance.

The rematch went down Saturday and you knew Yorkton would make some changes and be better.

They tightened up defensively,  but so did Flin Flon and they blanked the Terriers 3 to 0 to take a 2-0 series lead.

The Bombers would only need one goal to win game two and one of their top point producers in the playoffs Reid Arberry jumped on a juicy rebound late in the first period for his 4^th of the playoffs.

It was a very timely goal that sent the Bombers to the dressing room with a 1 to 0 lead after one,  and the very large home town crowd let them know how much they appreciated the team’s effort.

Maverick Deslisle scored the prettiest goal of the game when he took advantage of a beautiful pass from behind the Yorkton net from Jack Martin.

Martin feathered the pass out front and Deslisle was able to tap it past Yorkton goalie Callum Creig,  past his left arm right up against the post to make the score 2-0 for Flin Flon.

I don’t know how Deslisle was able to sneak it past Creig, but it was a very big goal for the only offense in the second period. Flin Flon added one more goal in the third when Rhett Ewen scored his 6^th of the playoffs in a goal line scramble standing in front of the Terrier net.

There is video review in the playoffs and the Yorkton bench thought that the play may have been offside, but they checked the video and it was ruled a good goal.

Charlie Tritt picked up his third shutout of the playoffs for the Bombers and stopped all 19 shots fired in his direction. Tritt wasn’t overly busy but was rock solid when he needed to be.

Yorkton went back with Callum Creig between the pipes and it was a good that they did,  as he made a number of big saves to keep the Terriers in it and would up with 34 saves on 37 shots.

Flin Flon took the second game 3 to 0 and out scored the Terriers 10 to 3 in the two games to jump out to a 2 to 0 lead in the Canterra Seeds Cup Final.

The Bombers put on a defensive gem and got back to playing the way they have for the entire playoffs.

Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan commented about the big win after Saturday’s game. “ We talked about Bomber Hockey and getting back to  doing what we do best. We knew Yorkton would play better and we did a great job shutting them down. I liked our game as we had good pushes and we accomplished the way we wanted to play. It is playoff hockey and we keep finding ways to win games especially with all the injuries that we have. Charlie was great again and he continues to do his job,  and you need your goalie to come up with big saves especially at this time of the season.”

The Bombers are now only two wins away from their first league title in 33 years and are in a good position heading to Yorkton and the Westland Arena for games three and four on Wednesday and Thursday.

It sounds like both those games are sold out and there should be well more than two thousand people in attendance for both those games. I am sure there will be a strong contingent of Bomber fans in attendance as well.

This is Flin Flon’s fourth trip to the finals in the last five years but you really get the sense that this time it may be different and they may finally  get over the hump.

There seems to be a strong urgency and there is a different player rising to the occasion every night,  with the entire Bomber nation behind them from not only Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan but from  all over the world.

Look forward to seeing all the Bomber fans in Yorkton Wednesday and Thursday night as the Bombers will try to raise that Canterra Seeds Cup with the whole hockey world watching.

We are down to the final two teams in the SJHL as game one of the Canterra Seeds Cup will start tonight at the Whitney Forum.

It is fitting that the top two clubs from the regular  season are left standing, the Yorkton Terriers and Flin Flon Bombers.

Flin Flon finished first overall  with a record of 41-11-3-1 good for 86 points while the Terriers went 37-17-1-1 to finish second  with 76 points. The Bombers took three of the four meetings head to head including both game at the Whitney Forum.

You can throw that out the window now,  but I am sure the Bombers are happy to have home ice advantage. They certainly needed it in the last series.

Both teams are coming off tough 7 game series in the SJHL Semi Finals with the Bombers knocking off Weyburn in a thrilling 1 -0 win on Wednesday to win that series 4 games to 3.

Yorkton also needed 7 games to beat  a good Battleford Stars team and won the clinching game 6 to 3 also on Wednesday.

These were the top two offensive teams in the regular season with Yorkton leading the way with 237 goals, while the Bombers were right behind with 234. Flin Flon prides themselves on their defense and led the league with 135 goals against while the Terriers gave up 171 goals which ranked them fifth overall.

This is a very intriguing  series which will pit the high flying Terriers against a stingy Bomber defense. Head Coach and GM of the Bombers Mike Reagan says they are a lot more concerned about their defensively play as opposed to how many goals they can score, like he says defense wins championships. Just ask the Melfort Mustangs who have been  the stingiest team the last two seasons which helped them produce back to back league titles.

Yorkton does have the best offensive line in the league with Gabriel Courchesne, Jye Zawatsky, William Leonard who lit it up in the regular season and so far in the  playoffs and have combined for 48 points.

The Bombers continue to score by committee and only have two players in the top 20 in playoff scoring including Connor Miller and Reid Arberry who have 9 points a piece.

Flin Flon's game is defense and the SJHL Goalie Of The Year Charlie Tritt continues to shine and is fresh off his first playoff shutout, making 26 saves in the 1 to 0 win over Weyburn on Wednesday night. Tritt is 7-3 in the playoffs with a 1.74 GAA and Save % of .935.

Yorkton veteran goalie Callum Craig has also supplied his team with steller goaltending as well and is 8-5 with a 2.36 GAA and a Save % of  .909.

Specialty teams will no doubt play a big part in this series and the Bombers are going to have to stay out of the box with Yorkton's powerplay flying at 21.6 %. Flin Flon does have the best PK at 87.5 %, but you don't want to give the Terriers a lot of chances. They have to many offensive  weapons.

Fans in the Bomber Nation are very excited and continue to hope that maybe this will be their year as it is their fourth trip to the league final in 5 years and 6th time for Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan.

Flin Flon is still looking for that elusive first title since 1993. The  Terriers are looking for their first league title since 2014.

It was one of the most entertaining games I have witnessed in a very long time as the Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings squared off in an epic game 7 showdown last night at the Whitney Forum.

Wyatt Stinton picked the perfect time to score his first of the playoffs,  when he was able to capitalize on one of the few Bomber powerplays.

Stinton took off down the left hand side of the ice, beat the Weyburn defenseman and fired a puck off a Weyburn defender that deflected past Wing netminder Joey Rocha for the only goal of the game.

This came with less than two minutes remaining in the first period and actually held up as the game winner as Flin Flon held on for a 1-0 win and take the thrilling SJHL Semi Final 4 games to 3.

Both goaltenders were outstanding once again as Bomber goalie  Charlie Tritt picked up his first SJHL playoff  shutout turning away all 26 shots fired in his direction. Wings netminder Joey Rocha was also rock solid and stopped 25 of 26, and was only beaten on the one deflection.

This was one of the most entertaining 1-nothing hockey games I have ever witnessed,  and both teams gave it everything they had and battled right to the final whistle. Fans got their money's worth on both centres for one of the best playoff series in recent memory.

There wasn't a lot of room either way last night,  and both teams put on a defensive gem with not a lot of quality chances either way at both ends of the ice.

I want to tip my hat to Weyburn Head Coach Cody Mapes and the rest of the Weyburn Red Wings who played a heck of a series and have nothing to hang their heads about.

Congratulations to the Flin Flon Bombers, despite of all their injuries were able to get to the league final for the fourth time in the last 5 years. This is also the 6th league final for Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan.

Maybe this will be the year the Bombers get it done and bring a league title back to the most deserving fans in the SJHL. Last night was an  unbelievable atmosphere and I felt our broadcast booth shake as the final seconds ticked down.

I have said it so many times, there is nothing like playoff hockey  at the Whitney Forum and the fans are a very big part of this team's success.

Flin Flon will now move on to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final and will face the Yorkton Terriers who also won their SJHL Semi Final in 7 games with a 6 to 3 victory over the Battleford Stars.

This is fitting because they were the top two teams in the regular season and will meet in the playoffs for the first time since 1989.

It all begins at the Whitney Forum with games one and two tomorrow and Saturday,  with the series shifting to Yorkton and the Westland Arena on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

The Phantom Lake Soccer Club continues to search for coach's to prepare for their outdoor season in May.

They still need 4 coach's in the U-9 and U-11 Divisions and two more for U-13.

Timbits still need coach's as well,  including 8 for the U-3'S, one more coach for U-5, four more for U-7's on Tuesday nights and five more for U-7's on Thursday nights.

The Phantom Lake Soccer Club id holding try-outs for U-13 and U-15 Boys

 tomorrow from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Creighton Sportex.

This will be for the outdoor travel teams who will be competing in tournaments throughout the summer with coach's Kara and Teli.

Despite several good scoring  opportunities,  the Flin Flon Bombers came up short in a 5 to 1 setback last night at the White Cap Resources Centre in Weyburn,  and now the best of 7 SJHL Semi Final is all tied at 3 games a piece with the Weyburn  Red Wings.

Flin Flon had several good scoring chances including Daniel Morozov who was awarded a penalty shot early in the first period, but got stopped by Wing netminder Joey Rocha who was on his game once again. Weyburn caught fire and took the momentum and never looked back after that.

Specialty teams were a big factor as Weyburn went 2 for 2 with the extra attacker,scoring twice on a 5 on 3.

Josh Sale and Jase McNichol scored 38 seconds apart in the second period,   and that was all the offense Weyburn would need to pick up the win and send it back to Flin Flon for game 7 tomorrow night.

Sale would score two more goals for his first career SJHL hat-trick to give him a whopping 8 points in the series. Aidan Mohan scored the other Weyburn goal.

Bomber defenseman Ryder Knutson was the only Flin Flon player to beat Joey Rocha . jumping on a rebound late in the second period.

That got the Bombers within two at 3 to 1 after two, but despite a good effort, just  couldn't get any more pucks past Rocha who wasn't going to be denied this night. Rocha finished with 31 saves on 32 shots.

Flin Flon went 0 for one with the extra attacker in their lone opportunity.

Bombers starting goalie Charlie Tritt played well despite giving up 4 goals on 31 shots as there was also a goal scored into the empty net. Tritt did everything he could to keep his team in the game and is providing good enough goaltending for his team to win.

Flin Flon needs to start burying and will have to empty the tank for the pivotal game 7 at the Whitney Forum tomorrow night. The Bombers finished first overall and were nearly perfect at home going 27-0-1 in the regular season,  and were able to win back home ice advantage in this series and always feed off the very boisterous loud crowd.

Weyburn won the very first game in Flin Flon , but the Bombers took game three in Weyburn  by a score of 2 to 1 to restore home ice advantage and are way more comfortable at the Whitney Forum then they are at the White Cap Resources Centre in Weyburn. 

This is why you fight so  hard for home ice advantage, just in case you get into a game 7 situation, you want to make sure you are on home ice.

Weyburn will try for the upset and try to knock off the Bombers for the second straight year in the SJHL Semi Final. Flin Flon will be looking to get back to the league final for the fourth time in the last 5 years. No matter what happens this has been a very hard fought entertaining series between two of the league's elite  clubs.

Puck drop is at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast once again on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com, with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10pm.

Soccer registration is now underway for the outdoor season for the Phantom Lake Soccer Club who are getting ready to celebrate their 40th season.

The soccer club will also be holding cheque drop off days on Tuesday April the 14th, Thursday April the 16th and Saturday May the 2nd from 5 to 9pm at the Creighton Sportex Lobby.

Indoor practises and games for the U-9, U-11, U-13 and U-15-17 continue throughout April at the Sportex Sunday through Thursday.

The best of seven SJHL Quarter Finals is all even at two games a piece as the Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings will resume the series tomorrow night at the Whitney Forum. 

The two teams split the two games in Weyburn with the Bombers pulling out a 2 to 1 win on Tuesday night thanks to a 38 save performance from Charlie Tritt. Flin Flon got their goals from Rhett Ewen and Connor Miller who picked up his team leading 6th of the post season.

Miller has been one of the Bombers top performers in the playoffs and has been a treat to watch with all the things he does so  well including winning a lot of big faceoffs.

On Wednesday the Wings responded with a strong third period and pulled out the 5 to 2 win, this time it was their netminder Joey Rocha with a strong performance with 39 saves on 41 shots.

The night started well with Reid Arberry banging home his second of the playoffs early in the second period. Weyburn's Josh Sale answered when he re-directed a shot from the blue line in front of the Bomber net to tie it at one after two.

Weyburn kept coming in the third and jumped out to a 5 to 1 lead with goals courtesy of Callas Pierce, Lucas Schmid, Rylan Pearce and Josh Sale picking  up his second of the night and fifth of the playoffs.

Rhett Ewen did get the Bombers a little closer,  when he banged in a rebound with just over two minutes remaining in regulation, but the Bombers couldn't get any closer. Ewen now has goals in three straight games to give him four in the playoffs.

No question tomorrow night is a big one, especially for Flin Flon who do not want to be trailing three games to two heading to Weyburn for game six on Monday night, which would be an elimination game.

The Bombers got some good news as Tyler Stinton has returned from injury and did suit up in game five and played well.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan mentioned on the CFAR Post Game Show on Wednesday that they might get forward Keaton Lesperance back for Saturday,  but we still won't see Landon Alexander, Hudson Brehaut and Sam Ward.

They aren't expected to be back for this series.

We will see if the Bombers can find a way to counter the Wings speed and if they can stay out of the penalty box as they were short handed six times in the last game.

Both goaltenders have played well and always give their respective teams a chance to win on any given night.

We know the Whitney Forum will be loud and jam packed and the Maroon and White will be looking forward to the home town support and the atmosphere second to none not only in the SJHL,  but any building in the country.

The Northstars organization would like to thanks all players,parents,volunteers,coaches,stick boys and sponsors for the support over the 2025/26 season.

Congratulations to two members of the Hapnot Queens Senior basketball team who are off to Winnipeg to compete in the Manitoba All Star Game and Awards Ceremony.

They are graduating players Taylor Burwash and Ariana Bellisle who were both very instrumental in helping the Queens win another Zone title and being part of  one of the most successful seasons in recent Queen's basketball  history.

Both these players have been named to the Manitoba Graduating All Star Team with the game happening on Saturday April the 18th.

Both girls are multi sport athletes and will do a great job representing their school and community as well as the Northern Region.

The Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings  split the first two games of the SJHL Semi Final this past weekend at the Whitney Forum.

Weyburn was able to shake off a tough first period on Friday where they were out shot 17 to 4 and  rallied for a 2 to 0 win.

Flin Flon came out on Friday and fired all kinds of shots at goaltender Joey Rocha , but he was able to turn away  everything in his direction and kept the game scoreless after one.

The game winning goal was scored in the second period when Dion Schraeder was able to re-direct a shot from Will Munro at the right side of the Bombers net.

Flin Flon couldn’t clear the puck out of their own zone,  and Schraeder was left alone in front of the Bomber net  to collect his 4^th of the playoffs, as that is all the offense Weyburn would need.

Flin Flon kept pressing but the Wings did a great job clogging up the middle of the ice and blocking a lot of shots to keep the high powered Bomber offense at bay.

It looked like the Bombers would get the break they needed late in the third period, when Weyburn was assessed a four minute penalty with less than ten minutes remaining in the game.

The Bomber powerplay which was ranked number one in the regular season couldn’t get anything going and had a hard time getting in the Wings zone to set up.

The Wings continued to stymie the Bomber offense and got a big insurance goal when Weyburn Captain Lucas Schmid scored his first of the post season to preserve the 2 to 0 victory.

Joey Rocha was solid and his rebound control was excellent as the Wings netminder made 37 saves for the win and his first shutout of the playoffs. Charlie Tritt was very good for Flin Flon in a losing cause making 23 saves for his first loss of the playoffs.

The Bombers knew they needed to be better in game two  and Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan was looking for a quick start to try and get the large crowd behind his team early.

The game couldn’t of started any better for the Maroon and White with Rhett Ewen grabbing a puck right off the opening faceoff and racing down the ice to beat  Rocha five hole for his second of the post season, 28 seconds in. The crowd went wild and the Bombers continued to respond.

Leo Seitz would score less than five minutes later for his second of the post season , before Hudson Brehaut scored a late first period goal for his first of the playoffs.

Flin Flon took a 3 to 0 lead into the second period  and the offense kept coming from Ryder Knutson who got his first playoff goal as a Bomber,  when he received a nice pass in front of the net from Ryan Ulmer.  

Weyburn finally beat Charlie Tritt,  when Callace Pierce was able to score on the powerplay when he beat a screened Tritt for his fifth of the playoffs, with a lot of traffic in front of the Bomber net. This was the first powerplay goal that Flin Flon has given up in the entire post season.

The Bombers would restore the four goal lead early in the third , when Connor Miller stole a puck at the Wing blue line and went down the ice and beat Joey Rocha with a nice back hand for his third of the playoffs. Weyburn would answer with Roan Burgess banging in a shot off the post to get the Wings back within three at 5 to 2.

With nothing to lose, Weyburn Head Coach and GM, Cody Mapes pulled his goalie to try and get closer, but it was the Bombers finding the back of the net with Miller getting his second of the night and team leading fourth of the post season.

Flin Flon took game two 6 to 2, to the delight of the 1000 plus fans in attendance to even the series at a game a piece.

Chalie Tritt who received his Top Goaltender Award from the  SJHL Commissioner Kyle McIntire  prior to the start of game two  was solid with 22 saves on 24 shots. Joey Rocha suffered the loss giving up 5 goals on 25 shots with one scored into the empty net.

Weyburn did what they had to do,  and with their game one win  have taken away home ice advantage. If the Bombers are going to win this series they will have to win at least one game in Weyburn.

The series will shift to Whitecap Resources Centre in Weyburn for games three and four this Tuesday and Wednesday with an 8pm Manitoba start time both nights.

It was awesome to see and hear the great crowd support for the Bombers in games one and two at the Whitney Forum. That  just go’s to show you that nothing beats playoff hockey at the Whitney Forum with the best and most loyal  hockey fans in the world. Look forward to seeing everyone back in Flin Flon for game five on Saturday.

The Phantom Lake Soccer Club continue to search for Coach's to start their 40th season.

There is some good news as they now have enough U-11 Coach's to start their indoor  season next week. 4 of the 8 teams are filled so they will still need to find four more coach's before they start outdoors in May.

Mean while,  only one  coaching spot has been filled in U-9 and only one spot filled for U-13. Timbits are still accepting coach's for their  start dates in May.

That is for U-3, U-5 and U-7.

The indoor schedule for next week at the Sportex includes U-11 on Monday April the 6th and Wednesday April the 8th at 5:30pm. U-13 on Monday April the 6th  and Wednesday April the 8th  at 6:30pm.U-15 to 17 , Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday April 7th to the 9th at 7:30pm.

We are down to the final four in the SJHL, with the two semi final series set to start tomorrow.

For the second straight year,  it will be the Flin Flon Bombers meeting the Weyburn Red Wings. Flin Flon advanced after sweeping the Estevan Bruins in four straight games while the Wings toppled the Nipawin Hawks in six.

The Wings knocked the Bombers off in 6 games  last year after jumping out to a quick 3 to 0 series lead which included wins in Flin Flon at the Whitney Forum in games one and two.

Flin Flon did fight back to make a series out of it but dug themselves too big of a hole early.

This is a different season and these are two different teams from last year.

The Bombers arn't as lethal up front as they have been in the past but run four lines  every night and feel that has led to their success this year. The Bombers finished first overall at 41-11-3-1 and an incredible 27-0-1 at home.

Weyburn was inconsistent at times but seemed to win a big game any time they needed to and finished fifth overall at 34-18-1-3. The stat that jumps out at me was that Weyburn had the second best road record at 16-9-3. They won four games at the Whitney Forum last season including the first two in last Spring's Semi Final.

Both teams score by committee with each team only having two scorers in the league's top 20 at the end of the season.

The Bombers Joey Lies finished 12th overall with 54 points in 48 games while Reid Arberry was 13th with 51 points in 52 games. Josh Sale was Weyburn's top scorer with 57 points in 54 games and finished 8th overall. Will Munro who came over from Melfort in a mid season trade finished 16th overall with 48 points in 52 games.

Both teams made significant moves this year with the Bombers making that blockbuster trade with the Humboldt Broncos back on January the 10th to bring in Charlie Tritt, Connor Miller and Ryder Knutson.

Those moves are paying off in the playoffs with Miller leading the team in goals in the post season  with three. Tritt the top SJHL netminder from the regular season, has impressive numbers in the post season so far with a 3-0 record to go along with a shutout and GAA of 1.45 and save % of .939.

Weyburn has made some significant moves as well with the addition of the former Bomber Rylan Pearce who came to the Wings from the WHL'S Regina Pats.

Pearce had a great series against Nipawin and is second overall in playoff scoring with 9 points in 6 games including 4 goals. Weyburn was also able to land goaltender Joey Rocha who came from the WHL'S Swift Current Broncos.

Rocha is 4-2 in the playoffs with a 2.46 GAA and a .928 Save %.

Both these teams like to skate and there is a good history between these two teams which includes the famous Moose Leg incident from a few years back. All in all I am looking forward to some great playoff hockey between these two teams.

The big challenge for Flin Flon will be,  how healthy are they entering this series? Flin Flon had 7 regulars out of their lineup in their series clinching win against Estevan. Hopefully the rest has done them some good.

Weyburn appears to be fairly  healthy and have hit their stride at the right time.

It all begins tomorrow at the Whitney Forum with puck drop at 7:30pm. Game two on Saturday, with the series shifting back to Weyburn for games three and four next Tuesday and Wednesday at Whitecap Resources Centre.

All Bomber playoff games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com, with the SJHL Coach's Show to kick things off 20 minutes before puck drop.

Big news for 20 year old forward Reid Arberry who has committed to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology for the 2026-27 season.

Arberry has had a break out season for the Bombers in his third year with the Maroon and White and was second in team scoring with 51 points in 52 games including 23 goals.

That was good enough for 13th overall in league scoring. Arberry also represented the SJHL at the Viking Cup Tournament this past season,  where he picked up 6 points in 5 games including an over time winner.

Nait is located in Edmonton and this year's squad includes three other players that played in the SJHL including Odin George who played in Kindersley, Josh Medernach,  Battleford Stars and Jackson Hassman who played in Weyburn.

Congratulations to  Creighton Senior Kodiak basketball player Ruby Karakochuk who was nominated and chosen to play in the Senior All-Star Classic scheduled for Sunday, April 19th at Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon.

Creighton school is  very proud of Ruby and all the work she has put into basketball these past few years and know she will be a great representative of her community and school.

Ruby has played for the Senior Basketball team the last four years from grade 9 to 12 and became a starter in grade 10. Karakochuk was the Captain of this year's squad and helped guide the Kodiaks to a Consolation Title at Regionals in Indian Head a few weeks ago.

Karakochuk is very involved with sports at Creighton School and also played for the volleyball and soccer teams.
