Funky Threads and A & W in the Pas are hosting the first minor hockey tournament of 2025.

It will be for the U-9 Division and will feature 3 teams from Flin Flon including the Flin Flon Ford Lightning, Flin Flon Steelworkers and McKeens Trucking.

There will also be teams from The Pas, OCN, Hudson Bay, Thompson, Snow Lake, Gillam and Swan Valley.

Games will take place at both the Roy H Johnston Arena and GLMC.

Action starts Friday with the FF Ford Lightning taking on the Pas Huskies Red at 1:30 at the Roy and the FF Steelworkers VS the Huskies Black at the GLMC.

Round robin will take place on Friday and Saturday with all the playoff games starting Sunday at 9.  The final will be played at 2:20 at the Roy.

Former Flin Flon Bomber,  Carter Anderson got himself a late Christmas present.

Anderson who is 20 and originally from Thompson MB,  is off to play for Canisius Athletics in the NCAA for the 2025-26 season.

Anderson played 58 regular season games for the Bombers between 2023 and 2024  where he accumulated  83 points including 50 goals with an additional 15 points in 14 playoff games.

Anderson who is one of the best pure skaters I have seen in a very long time decided to finish out his junior career in BC with the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Since heading to BC in November, Anderson is better than a point per game with 10 points in 8 games including 6 goals.

Carter has also played more than 100 games in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels and Prince Albert Raiders.

The Norman Regional Minor Hockey Association will be holding a U-13 Development Program in Snow Lake this weekend.

It has been a very good few months for the Flin Flon Bombers who enter 2025 with 27 out of a possible 28 points throughout November and December.

Two of the reasons why are second year d-man Luke Lepper and forward Koen Senft.

Both players were chosen to represent the Bombers and SJHL at the Western All Star Showcase and both were also  part of Canada West for the recent World JR A Challenge.

Koen Senft scored two goals in the final game helping Canada West win the Bronze over Canada East.

Now both players are being recognized for the fine play over the course of last week with Player Of The Week honors.

Luke Lepper was chosen the Super U Defenseman Of The Week as he picked up 7 points in three games last week including 3 assists against Nipawin on Tuesday and 4 assists in the weekend swep of Laronge.

Lepper sits tied for 8th in overall league  scoring among defenseman with 20 points in 26 games.

Koen Senft was selected as the Canterra Seeds Sask Player Of The Week with a 5 point week including 4 points in the win over Laronge on Saturday.

Senft is back in the top 20 in league scoring and currently  sits 17th overall and is better than a point per game with 27 points in 26 games.

The Bombers are on their Christmas break and will be back in action January the 4th when they travel to Laronge.

The Norman U15 Female Wild have wrapped up 2024.

 The team continues to show improvement and have done a really good job  decreasing the shots on net. Their strongest game so far  was December 14th  against Central Plains.

Flin Flon's own  Zoey Phair-Boucher was a brick wall in the net giving one of her best performances of the year.

Janae Neufeld, also  from Flin Flon scored 2 goals and 1 assist in  that game. The team is practicing hard through the holiday season and will be back on the road for a set of 3 games starting Friday January 3 and against the Eastman Selects.

Their first home games in the new year will be January the 18th and 19th when they host Pembina Valley.

Another great weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who swept the Laronge Ice Wolves  and have collected points in 14 straight games.

On Friday Flin Flon went into Laronge and beat the Wolves 3 to 1 on a fine goaltending display from Matthew Kieper who stopped 27 out of 28 shots for his 9th straight win.

Kieper is locked in and heads into the Christmas break with a .943 save %, which is the best in the league. The Bomber goals came from Wyatt Stinton (4), Carter Cormier (11) and Pierce Yakimchuk (2).

The former Battleford Star, Brett Boucher scored the lone goal for the Wolves who got a great goaltending performance from Graham Brown who was very busy stopping 43 out of 46 including 4 clear cut  break aways.

It was a wild game in the rematch on Saturday which saw the Bombers nearly blow a 3 goal lead. Flin Flon jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one courtesy of two goals from Leighton Carruthers his 5th and 6th of the year and Koen Senft's 8th.

It looked like the Bombers might blow this one wide open but give the Wolves credit they came out to play. Laronge scored a couple of quick powerplay goals courtesy of Zane Normand and Dylan Nazareth less than 4 minutes into the second period.

Then  with the Bombers back on their heels, Ryder Dembo would tie it on a mad scramble in front of the Flin Flon net that quckly quieted the large Flin Flon crowd.

The Bombers were able to shake that off and regained the lead with a couple of late second period goals from Keefe Gruener ( 13) and Anthony Piccininno (6) to make it 5 to 3.

Flin Flon would take the lead by 3 for the second time in the game when Evan Bossell was able to score his fourth of the year on a partial break away early in the third.

Laronge came to play and were able to claw their way back at 6 to 5 when Cole Thomas was able to bang home a couple of goals.

Koen Senft answered with his second of the game on the powerplay and Flin Flon hung on for a wild 7 to 5 finish.

Kenny Marquart was back between the pipes and he picked up his 6th win of the season after making 33 saves. Graham Brown started once again for Laronge and ended up with 32 saves on 39 shots.

Both teams were good on the powerplay with the Bombers going 2 for 4 and the Wolves were 2 for 5.

After the weekend sweep,  Flin Flon improves to 19-9-2 and are alone in second place in the league  with 40 points. The Bombers also have points in 14 straight and close out 2024 with 27 out of 28 points in November and December.

Laronge will fall to 14-17-1 and are 9th overall and have fallen out of a playoff spot.

Both teams are done for the year and won't be back in action til Saturday January the 4th when Flin Flon will travel back to Laronge.

This past October was a dream come true for Flin Flon's Harvey Bolton who was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall Of Fame.

Harvey was inducted into the Builder's Category for his over 50 years of service in officiating,  which not only included him refereeing games  but he has  also  been the Referee In Chief for Flin Flon and the Norman Region. He has also  worked countless junior games in both Saskatchewan and Manitoba with a chance to oversee the officials at the 2001 Royal Bank Cup here in Flin Flon.

Bolton has been recognized for his great body of work right across the province with many awards and accolades throughout his career.

Bolton still runs referee clinics today and continues to work with and help mold many young officials adapt to this ever quick changing game.

This past Tuesday there was a special presentation at the Whitney Forum lobby where Harvey's Manitoba Hockey Hall Of Fame Plaque was put  on display in the newly formed kiosk.

Harvey's family and many local hockey fans were on hand for the plaque placing and Bolton couldn't be happier. " It is so important, this rink and community means so much to me, whether it is Flin Flon Minor Hockey or my work with the junior teams. None of this would of happened without this rink and starting here, like I mentioned when I put the plaque in,  it is located like 20 feet from the door  where I officiated my first ever hockey game."

Harvey's plaque is right beside other people who are either from Flin Flon or played hockey in Flin Flon and have their place in the Manitoba Hockey Hall Of Fame including Bobby Clarke, Reggie Leach, Paddy Ginnell, Gerry Hart,  Ray Neaufeld and Jordy Douglas among others.

I had a chance to interview Harvey after the ceremony on Tuesday and he was able to share this experience on what it means to him and his family.

The Flin Flon Ski Club wants to give you a present to enjoy the holiday season.

Once again this year the Ski Club will wave trail fees for all non members between now and January the 6th.

This will be a great opportunity to experience some of the best trails in Western Canada and if you have friends and family coming in to visit for Christmas,  a chance for them to get out and enjoy all these great trails.

This will also give you a chance to stay active throughout the holiday season.

Local product Ryder Mucha was able to score his first ever two  SJHL goals as the Flin Flon Bombers filled the back of the net,  and took it to the Nipawin Hawks 8 to 2 last night at the Whitney Forum.

It must of been a big weight off of Mucha's shoulders as he has had countless chances but for what ever reason hasn't been  able to bury. This should be great for his confidence.

The other Bomber goals came from Anthony Piccininno(5), Leo Seitz(3), Keefe Gruner (12), Ryder Ringor (12). Kylynn Olafson (2) and Leighton Carruthers(4).

Ashton Tait scored both goals for the Hawks and now has 9 points in his last 4 games.

Flin Flon got their powerplay going and finished 2 for 4 while Nipawin was 0 for 2. Matthew Kieper continues to play well stopping 29 shots for his 8th straight win. Gage Roberts went the distance for the Hawks and despite giving up 8 goals on 50 shots, he did make some nice saves.

Flin Flon now has points in 12 straight games and continue to dominate the Hawks beating them for the fifth straight time this season  and have now won 22 of the last 25 meetings.

With last night's win Flin Flon will take over second overall at 17-9-2 good for 36 points. Nipawin remains in the basement at 7-18-2-2.

The Bombers only have two games remaining in 2024 as they will close out the year this weekend with a home and home against the Laronge Ice Wolves.

This will be their first meeting since the second week of the season when Flin Flon went into Laronge and beat the Wolves 5 to 1 on September the 28th.

Friday's game will be at the Mel Hegland Uniplex in Laronge with the rematch in Flin Flon at the Whitney Forum on Saturday. Puck drop both nights is 7:30 and will both be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.

The Flin Flon Bombers will play their final 3 games of 2024 as they get set to host the Nipawin Hawks tonight at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon who had their ten game winning streak snapped in North Battleford on Saturday are playing some good hockey with points in their last 11 games.

The Bombers took 3 out of 4 points in the Battlefords and are currently third overall at 16-9-2, which is only one point behind the Northstars with a game in hand.

Nipawin comes to town at 7-17-2-2 and are playing their best hockey of the season. The Hawks may be turning the corner and are playing .500 hockey in their last ten games at 4-4-1-1.

Some of the Hawks young players are starting to impress including 18 year old Ashton Tait who is the Canterra Seeds Player Of The Week after reeling off 7 points in his last 3 games.

Tait was instrumental in the Hawks win against Laronge on Friday.

Another player that has emerged is former Bomber Connor Ryan who is the Super U Defenseman Of The Week. Ryan is taking advantage of a lot of ice time and has 4 points in his last 3 games. Ryan has also crept into the top 20 for defenseman in scoring with 15 points in 28 games.

Flin Flon will welcome back bench boss Mike Reagan, defenseman Luke Lepper and forward Koen Senft who represented the SJHL at the recent World JR A Challenge in Camrose Alberta.

Canada West won Bronze and Koen Senft led the way with a pair of goals in the 5 to 2 win over Canada East on Sunday.

This will be the 5th meeting of the season between these two clubs with the Bombers holding the edge winning all four previous meetings including their last game in Nipawin 5 to 2 back on November the 23rd.

Matter of fact, Flin Flon has beaten Nipawin 21 out of the last 24 games they have played but this might be the most confident Hawk team the Bombers have seen the last couple of seasons.

In the spirit of the holidays, Hapnot Collegiate wants to help out the local food bank.

Hapnot will be hosting the annual Red Green Basketball Classic as the Kopper Kings and Queens will take on  the Creighton Kodiaks.

The games will take place tomorrow at the Hapnot gym as the Kings face the Kodiaks at 4:30, then the Queens will play Creighton at 6pm.

They are looking to fill the gym and encourage everyone that will be coming out to watch to bring a non- perishable food item to donate to the food bank.

The biggest high school basketball tournament in the North  took place in the Pas this past weekend, with a number of teams competing from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan in the Bill McDonald Classic.

Hapnot and Creighton both took part with the Senior Kings , Queens and Kodiaks all seeing action.

The  Hapnot Kopper Kings dropped their first game to MBCI out of The Pas before rebounding to beat Norway House.

That would put the Kings in the Consolation Final where they lost to the Creighton Kodiaks 64 to 56. RD Parker out of Thompson beat Porcupine Plain in the final 89 to 76.

On the girls side,  the Hapnot Kopper Queens split their round robin games against Norway House and RD Parker out of Thompson. They would face Kamsack for third and lost 74 to 24.

The Kodiak Girls lost to MBCI,  but rebounded to beat OCN, before losing the Consolation Final to Norway House.

RD Parker out of Thompson won the Girls bracket beating MBCI from The Pas 56 to 35.

The U-13 Kinsmen Bombers were in Swan River this past weekend and  kicked off the  tournament  Saturday morning against the host Stampeders in what was a very tight game and finished in a 2-2 tie.

The Bombers then played the Thompson King Miners in another exciting game which saw the Bombers come back from a  4-1 deficit  and actually took  a 5-4 lead but the Miners would tie it late and the game finished  in a 5-5 tie.

The Bombers next game was on  Sunday morning against a very strong Russell team and came up on the losing end 11-0. This placed the Bombers in the Bronze medal game where they defeated the stampeders 4-0.

Russell would later defeat Thompson 10-1 in the final to capture the Gold medal. The Bombers will now enjoy some time off for the Christmas break and resume action in the new year when they head to Minnedosa January 9th.

The World JR A Challenge didn't start well for Canada West , but it sure ended well with a 5 to 2 win over Canada East to claim the Bronze medal yesterday in Camrose.

It was a great afternoon for the Flin Flon Bomber' s Cohen Senft who scored a pair of goals in the second period to help lead his team to the victory.

Canada West dug deep after dropping their first 4 games of the tournament and were  out scored 31 to 3.

Canada West was ready to go and came out and played their best game in the tournament out shooting their Eastern rivals 43 to 32 and exacted some revenge after dropping a 6 to 1 decision earlier in the week.

The Flin Flon Bombers were also represented by defenseman Luke Lepper who had a goal and an assist in the tournament and bench boss Mike Reagan.

This was the fourth World JR A Tournament for Reagan who also has two gold medals to his credit in his three previous opportunities,  including his last time at the helm in 2017.

It was another good weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who went into North Battleford and were able to take three points from a very good Stars team.

On Friday the Bombers built up a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Keefe Gruener (9) and Rhett Ewen (4) and never looked back picking up the 4 to 1 victory.

Carter Cormier (11) and Keefe Gruener would add his second of the night and 10th of the year on the powerplay added some insurance.

Jace Rask scored his fourth of the year and  was the only player to beat Matthew Kieper who made 20 saves to pick up his 7th straight win since coming to the Bombers in late October.

Kieper in the reigning SJHL Goalie Of The Month and his stats are staggering with a GAA of 1.84 and Save % of .942 and is a big reason why the Bombers are on such a tear.

Flin Flon fired 43 shots at Justin Maric and if the veteran goalie wasn't at his best the score could of been a lot more lopsided.

We were expecting the Stars to be a lot better on Saturday and they were and this time it was Battleford getting off to a great start. Jace Rask with his second in as many nights and Braden Neinaber scored before the game was 10 minutes old. 

Flin Flon did settle down and Keefe Gruener got the Bombers on the board when he tapped home a nice pass from Joey Lies ealy in the second period to get his team within one.

This was Guener's third of the weekend who is back to the player that we saw in September and early October before he got injured.

Joey Lies played his two best games of the season and would tie the game when he took advantage of a Stars miscue in their own zone and beat Justin Maric low blocker side.

Flin Flon continued to pour it on and out shot the Stars 12 to 2 in the third and 35 to 17 in the game, could not get another puck past Justin Maric who was the best player on the ice.

Despite dominating 5 on 5 in regulation, the Bombers couldn't get going in overtime and were back on their heels for most of the OT. A couple  Bomber players got caught on the ice for to long,  which led to Rylan Williams being left alone in front of the net and he converted a nice pass from Elijah Anderson to end the game.

Kenny Marquart got the start and played well despite the loss with 14 saves on 17 shots. This was Marquarts first ever start at Access Communications Centre.

Justin Maric was incredible again and made 33 saves on 35  shots

 and helped the Stars steal this one. Even with 3 out of 4 points which is always good on the road Flin Flon thought they deserved better.

All in all Flin Flon is very happy with the road trip and their play without Bomber bench boss Mike Reagan as well as players Koen Senft and Luke Lepper who are away at the World JR A Challenge.

Flin Flon went 3-0-1 and grabbed 7 out of a possible 8 points and sit third overall at 16-9-2 and are just one point behind the Stars for second overall.

The Bombers will play three more games before the Christmas break as they host the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday and close out 2023 with a home and home with the Laronge Ice Wolves on Friday and Saturday.

Friday and Saturday's games will both be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.

There are only a few weeks left to support Flin Flon Minor Hockey's 50/50 fundraiser.

Flin Flon Minor Hockey continues to organize, develop and promote Minor Hockey for all the youth in Flin Flon and the surrounding communities.

Funds from this raffle will go towards supporting the FFMH rep teams for travel for tournaments.

The draw takes place on Christmas Eve, December the 24th at the Whitney Forum.

The first Senior High School  Basketball Tournament of the year  taking place in the Pas this weekend.

There will be teams competing from all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan including Flin Flon, Creighton, The Pas, OCN, Thompson, Norway House , Kamsack, Hudson Bay and Porcupine Plain.

In the Girls Draw Creighton will open up against MBCI out of The Pas at 11. The Hapnot Queens  will play Norway House at 1pm.

In the Boys, Creighton will play RD Parker out of Thompson at 1pm, and the Hapnot Kings will play MBCI out of The Pas at 3.

Round robin will continue through Friday and Saturday with the Girls Final at 3 and Boys Final at 5 on Saturday.

Flin Flon Parks and Rec is bringing back another session of Learn To Figure Skate.

This will be coached by Joleen Rossington and will begin on January the 6th.

It takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6pm at the Whitney Forum. It will cost $120.00 for 3 months.

The U-13 Kinsmen Bombers have one more tournament before Christmas as they will head to Swan River this weekend.

Other teams will be competing from Swan River, Thompson and Russell.

Flin Flon will play Swan Valley to open the tournament Saturday at 9:30. They will then  play Thompson at 3:45.

On Sunday they finish the round robin against Russell at 10:45.

Playoffs begin Sunday at 1 and the Gold Medal game is at 3.

A number of Flin Flon rep teams were out at tournaments this past weekend.

The U-11 Northland Ford Bombers were in Prince Albert and had a very good showing.

They won all three of their round robin games beating Warman 9 to 1, the PA Phantoms 12 to 1 and the Beaver River Blues 6 to 5.

That put them in the Semi- Finals against the Saskatoon Wild Mustangs and they won that game 12 to 2.

Unfortunately they came up a little short in the final and ended up losing to the Lanigan Pirates 8 to 4 but finished second out of 11teams.

The U-11 Peds Threads Bombers were in Morden and they dropped all three of their games to Morden, Springfield and Winkler and did not make the playoff round.

The U-15 Bombers/ Huskies  were  in Stony Mountain and went 1-2 in the round robin.

They lost to Steinbach 4 to 1, then rebounded to beat Lakeside 2 to 1. Cohen Brough had both goals in that game.

They lost their final round robin game to Manitou 2 to 1. That put them in the playoff round and they ended up beating  Warren 4 to 2 and finished fifth and won the Consolation.

Another good weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who swept the Melville Millionaires in a weekend series including a 4 to 0 win on Saturday.

17 year old local sensation Wyatt Stinton scored the game winning goal when he picked up his third of the season  midway though the first period.

That is all the offense that Flin Flon would need as Kenny Marquart was solid between the pipes and ended up with 34 saves for his first shutout of the season.

Mrquart will improve to 5-7 on the season and his numbers continue to get better with a GAA of 2.71 and a Save % of .902. It is also nice to see Kenny getting some offensive support as well.

The other Bomber goals came from Carter Cormier (9), Leighton Carruthers (3) and Anthony Piccininno (4).

The Bombers had a great weekend defensively and only gave up the one goal in a 3 to 1 win on Friday. Ryder Ringor led the way with a pair of goals and now leads the team with 11.

Kyle Marsden got the other goal in his Bomber debut and looked impressive on the blue line all weekend and looks like he will be a big addition to the Bomber blue line for many years to come.

Matthew Kieper picked up his 6th straight win and ended up with 29 saves including some key stops in the third period. Kieper is the SJHL Goalie Of The Month for November and is making a name for himself right across the league.

AP call up Taylor Tabashniuk started both games for the Mills and was their best player on the weekend and faced 82 shots in the two games and only allowed 6 goals with one goal scored into the empty net.

The Bombers have now reeled off 9 straight wins and sit third overall at 15-9-1 and are just 2 points behind Battleford for second overall with those two teams colliding in the Battlefords this weekend.

It will be the first meeting of the year between these long time rivals and I am defineatly expecting a playoff atmosphere at the  Access Communications Centre this weekend.

The Flin Flon Bombers will put their 7 game winning streak on the line tonight when they host the Melville Millionaires in a pair of games at the Whitney Forum.

The Bombers occupy 6th spot overall with 27 points  which is just two points behind the Mills who have 29 points and have played two more games than Flin Flon.

Melville comes to town playing some good hockey as well and have won 3 of their last 5 and are a very respectable 8-6-1 on the road.

This will be the first time these teams have seen each other this year. Melville gave the Bombers some problems last year and were 2-2 against them and all four contests were decided by one goal.

Traditionally Melville has had a tough time winning in Flin Flon and the Bombers have beaten them in 6 of the last 7 meetings up North.

The Mills have been one of the power house clubs this season and their 66 goals against is third best in the league. The Bombers rank second with 65 goals given up in 23 games,  so offense might be pretty tight this weekend.

Both teams have been victimized by losing their top offensive threat to the BCHL, with Carter Anderson heading off to Chilliwack last week annd now the Brooks Bandits have plucked Caden Drury off of Melville.

Drury was having a season to remember with 37 points in 25 games and was leading the SJHL in scoring before making his move to Brooks,  and certainly puts Doug Johnson in a bind as he tries to replace his scoring.

Flin Flon will have their new defenseman in the lineup tonight as Kyle Marsden will make his Bomber debut. Marsden was reassigned  to the Bombers from the Victoria Royals of the WHL, and Flin Flon got his rights in a trade with Fort McMurray in the off season for a PDF.

Congratulations are also in order for a pair of Bombers in Koen Senft and Luke Lepper who have both made Canada West for the World JR A Challenge.

Lepper has 13 points in 23 games while Senft has 22 points in 23 games including 7 goals. They will be joined by Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan who is the Head Coach.

Don't forget to bring your Teddy Bears and stuffed animals for tonight's game as it is the annual Northland Ford Teddy Bear Toss , where you get to throw the stuffed animals on the ice after the Bombers score the first goal.

All the stuffed toys will then be collected and donated to the Flin Flon Friendship Centre's Christmas Gift program.

Former Flin Flon Bomber Ashton Paul is on the move once again as he has been traded by the Dauphin Kings to the SJHL'S Melfort Mustangs.

Paul makes his way to Melfort for 20  year old forward Rylan Ringor and a player development fee.

This will be Paul's fourth team that he will play for and had put up 13 points in 20 games so far this season for the Dauphin Kings. Ashton put up 19 points in 28 games for the Flin Flon Bombers last season.

He was moved to Dauphin at last year's deadline for 20 year old defenseman Anthony Bax.

Paul's best season was for his hometown Northern Manitoba Blizzard where he put up 56  points in 57 games including 26 goals. 

Ashton will make his Mustangs debut this Friday when Melfort hosts Laronge.

The Flin Flon Bombers have added 2006 born right-handed shot defenceman Kyle Marsden from the WHL’s Victoria Royals.

Marsden was acquired from the AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons this past summer in exchange for a Player Development Fee and put up 7 points in 27 games last season. This season Marsden suited up in 7 games with Victoria before being re-assigned to the Bombers.

“Kyle came highly recommended from Keefe Gruener so when we had the opportunity to acquire his CJHL rights from Fort McMurray, it was a no brainer. Kyle will bring size, toughness and experience to our lineup and we’re excited to work with him. The 6’3, 228lbs product of Fort McMurray, Alberta was drafted in the 6th round of the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft by the Winnipeg Ice.

With the volleyball season just wrapping up this past weekend , it is time to switch things over for the Hapnot high school  basketball season and try-outs are underway.

All basketball practices and try-outs will take place today at Many Faces.

JV Girls Basketball tryouts are at 3:30, JV Boys Basketball at 5 and Varsity Boys Basketball at 6:30.

The first tournament of the year will be a Senior tournament in the Pas the weekend of December the 13th and 14th.

The U-15 Flin Flon and the Pas Huskies are off to Stonewall for their second tournament of the year this weekend.

The Huskies will try to improve on their 2-2 tournament results from Estevan back in November.

The Huskies open up against Steinbach Miller at 6:30 Friday night.

On Saturday they face Lakeside at 11:45 and Manitou at 3:30.

Playoffs are to start at 9am on Sunday with the final at 4.

Creighton Recreation is now taking registration for the 2025 Creighton Skating Program.

Once again they are offering programs for lots of different age groups including Parents and Tots, Beginners, Intermediate and Adults 15 plus.

The 8 week program will take place at the Sportex on Saturdays starting on January the 11th and will cost $50.00.

November was a fantastick month for the Flin Flon Bombers who went 7-0 and have been able to vault up the standings and get back in the playoff picture.

One of the reasons why is the play of their goaltender Matthew Kieper who has helped stabilize the goaltending situation since arriving from the WHL and has been selected the Sasktel Goalie Of The Month.

Kieper was 5-0 in the month to go along with a 2.17 GAA and a Save % of .936.

The Bombers will now prepare for the Melville Millionaires who make their way to the Whitney Forum for a pair of games this weekend.

It is always great hockey when these two long time rivals square off and there is a lot at stake this weekend with Melville leading Flin Flon by two points for second overall.

The Bombers do have a game in hand.

The Flin Flon Bombers wrapped up November in style with an impressive 6 to 3 win over the Yorkton Terriers Saturday night  at the Whitney Forum.

After a tough October that saw Flin Flon go 4-8, the Bombers rebounded and were a perfect 7-0 in November.

Even without high flying forward  Carter Anderson who elected to head out to the BCHL, the Bombers were able to score six goals on a very good team.

It took the Bombers just over five minutes in to get on the board when Koen Senft took a rebound off the post and beat Terrier netminder Callum Creig with his 7th of the season.

17 year old Wyatt Stinton was back in the lineup after a 7 game suspension and he looked great, firing a beautiful slapshot over Creig's left shoulder for his second of the season to put the B'S up 2 to 0.

This was the best game I have seen Stinton play in a Bomber uniform and he competed hard and had plenty of chances all night.

Flin Flon held a 2 to 0 lead coming out for the second and some sloppy defense allowed the Terriers to get back in the game.

David Coyle and William Leonard took advantage of a couple of Bomber give aways and they tied the game early in the second.

Matthew Kieper made a couple of big saves to keep the Bombers in it and they were able to eventually  get back on track.

Rhett Ewen who has been playing some great hockey gave his team the lead when he grabbed his own rebound and picked up his third of the year on a nice feed from Stinton.

That sparked the Bombers who kept coming and scored three more goals before the period was complete from Keefe Gruener (8), Leighton Carruthers (2) and Carter Cormier (8).

Flin Flon took a 6 to 2 lead into the third period and tightend up defensively giving up just the one goal to Jye Zawatsky who scored a late 5 on 3 goal for his 6th of the year.

The third period was a steady stream  to the penalty box for the Bombers who ended up killing 6 out of 8 powerplays for Yorkton. Flin Flon went 0 for 3.

Matthew Kieper continued his stellar play and made 38 saves on 41 shots and is now a perfect 5-0 since arriving from the WHL. Despite giving up 6 goals on 43 shots, Callum Creig also  played very well and did everything he could to keep his team in the game.

After Saturday's win the Bombers are now 13-9-1 and trail third place Weyburn and Battleford by just one point. Flin Flon is only 2 points out of second behind Melville who they will see for the first time this weekend.

The Great North GM Coach's Show is set to go at 7:10 with drop of the puck for Creighton Furniture at 7:30.

The Senior Hapnot Queens travelled down to Rosenort for Senior Volleyball Provincials this past weekend.

After a slow start with losses to Rosenort and Green Valley, the Queens were able to rebound with wins over Killarney and Warren.

This would put the Queens in the Quarter Finals against one of the top teams in the province in Elton.

Elton was able to prevail 23-25, 25- 19 and 15 to 12. Elton then went on to win the Provincial title beating Rosenort in the final.

The 24th annual Mel Pearson Memorial Hockey Tournament wrapped up yesterday at the Sportex and Whitney Forum.

A big thanks to all the volunteers, referee's, spectators, coachs and players who travelled in for the historic tournament.
