Congratulations to the Flin Flon Bombers Pierce Yakimchuk who is their RBC Community Ambassador this year.

Pierce works with McIsaac School and presented a $1,000.00 cheque to the school on behalf of RBC.

RBC Community Ambassadors are recognized in all 12 SJHL centres  for making a difference and giving back to the communities where they play. Each Ambassador is celebrated at an RBC Game Night and honoured with an RBC donation to a school in their local community.

SJHL fans will be able to vote online for the RBC Community Ambassador of their choice to be honoured as the recipient of the RBC Community Award at the end of the SJHL regular season. This additional honour is accompanied by a further donation from RBC in the player’s name to a school in their local community.

Yakimchuk is also very involved with the Learn To Skate program  and does a lot of refereeing in the Flin Flon Rec League. Pierce is an excellent role model for kids to look up to  and puts a lot of effort in getting out and doing positive things in the community. 

Flin Flon Minor Hockey will be hosting another round of Skill Development this Sunday March the 1st at the Whitney Forum.

It starts at 3pm and is open to all U-11 to U-18 House League and Rep Team players and goalies. This is open to all players regardless of skill level as Flin Flon Minor Hockey want to provide as much ice time as possible for the development of  the players.

Senior Basketball Zones will take place this weekend for both the Hapnot Collegiate Boys and Girls.

The Hapnot Queens who are the top seed will be in Norway House and will be competing against teams from Norway House, Cranberry and The Pas.

The Queens first game is Friday VS The Pas at 4pm, then they will play Norway House at 7pm and Cranberry Saturday morning at 10am.

The Girls Final will go at noon.

The Hapnot Kings will be in The Pas and are in a pool with Cranberry and Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation.

The Kings first game is Friday at noon VS the top seed from Cranberry, then they will play Nisichwayasihk at 3:30pm.

Playoffs start Saturday at 10am with the final at noon.

The Flin Flon Ski Club is getting ready to host the biggest event of the year the51st annual Val and Ivor Hedman Centaloppet.

This is a great event the whole family can enjoy which is an easy 2.5 km family friendly race.

It takes place on Sunday March the 8th at the Flin Flon Ski Chalet with registration at 1pm and mass start at 2pm.

It is absolutely  free to enter and there are no shortage of prizes to be won including a handicap system that gives everyone a chance to win the prestigious Centaloppet Cup.

The Flin Flon Bombers have officially clinched the UPL Division with their 23rd straight win on home ice last night doubling up on the Nipawin Hawks 4 to 2.

Flin Flon used another strong first period to power to the victory as they scored three times.

Pierce Yakimchuk opened up the scoring with his 8th of the season, a career high just over 5 minutes into the opening period.

Connor Miller who just nicely got back in the Bomber lineup re-directed his 21st of the year just two minutes later before the red hot Leo Seitz scored his 14th to put Flin Flon up 3 to 0 after one.

Seitz has now scored in three straight games.

Nipawin would get it together due in large part to the play of netminder Gage Roberts who made a lot of big saves to keep his team in the game which looked like it may get out of hand.

The Hawks would get their powerplay going and Braeden Jockims and Eric Hoiness were both able to score with the man advantage to get the Hawks within a goal after two.

Flin Flon continues to find ways to win hockey games and their leading scorer Joey Lies scored a big insurance goal by shovelling in a loose puck in the crease midway through the final period  to put the Bombers up 4 to 2.

The Bombers shut the Hawks down the rest of the way and are now a perfect 23-0 at the Whitney Forum this season. Flin Flon will also improve to a league best 37-10-1-1 on the season and now lead the second place Battleford Stars by 7 points with a game in hand.

Nipawin will fall to 32-17-1-1 and remain tied with Yorkton for third spot with 66 points.

A great goaltending dual last night with the Bombers Charlie Tritt making a lot of key stops with 27 out of 29 for his 20th win of the season.

Gage Roberts was very good as per usual with 33 saves on 37 shots.

Flin Flon will now focus their attention on the hottest team in the league the Melfort Mustangs who have won 9 in a row after a 4 to 2 win against Weyburn last night.

These two teams will collide this weekend with a home and home at the Palace in Melfort on Friday and back at the Whitney Forum on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.

The Flin Flon Bombers are back in action tonight at the Whitney Forum as they get set to host Division Rivals the Nipawin Hawks in a rare Tuesday matchup.

Flin Flon is fresh off a weekend sweep of Melville with a 4 to 1 win on Friday and a very hard fought 5 to 4 OT win on Saturday.

The Mills really took it to the Bombers in the third period on Saturday, but Flin Flon found a way to get it done and kept their impressive home winning streak going at 22 games.

Flin Flon continue to lead the overall standings with a record of 36-10-1-1, which is 5 points up on the second place Battleford Stars with two games in hand.

The Bombers will get a real good test tonight as the Nipawin comes to town with the third best record in the league at 32-16-1-1 and are headed  to the post season for the first time under Head Coach Tad Kozan.

Flin Flon has taken 4 of the 6 meetings head to head this season  including a 7 to 4 win at the Cage in their most recent meeting back on January the 27th. Nipawin has really struggled at the Whitney Forum in recent memory  with just two wins in their last 15 meetings.

The Hawks are a lot more confident group now with three straight wins and are 7-3 in their last ten and will give the Bombers a good push tonight. You may recall it was Nipawin who ended the Bombers big unbeaten streak last year.

Any time you have Gage Roberts between the pipes you have a chance to win and the 19 year old is 21-11-1-1 on the year with a .921 save %. Roberts did struggle in his last start against Flin Flon and I expect him to be better tonight.

The Bombers continue to roll with the tandem of Charlie Tritt and Finn Werner and feel like they have the best one-two punch in the league,

Tritt leads the league in save % at .935 while Werner is 12-1 on the season and has evolved as an elite goalie at 18.

Both teams have a ton of good forwards with the Bombers having ten players in double figures in goals, while the Hawks have have the luxury of having eight.

Should be an exciting game tonight and who knows maybe they will get a chance to meet in the post season again this year. Puck drop at the Whitney Forum is 7:30 with the game on FLO TV.

We are back on radio this weekend as the Bombers will have a showdown with another divisional foe in the red hot Melfort Mustangs. We will broadcast both games from  Melfort on Friday and the rematch from Flin Flon on Saturday.

Big news out of Flin Flon Minor Hockey.

The Northland Ford Bombers are headed to Provincials in Manitou starting this Friday.

Hard work, dedication and team spirit has paid off and the Bombers will be competing in the Co-Ed U-11 D Division. Flin Flon is in a pool with Lorette and the host team from Manitou.

Flin Flon will play Manitou this Friday night at 7pm then play Lorette Saturday at 12:30pm. Playoffs will start Saturday at 3:45pm with the Consolation Final on Sunday at 1pm, the Bronze Medal Game at 2:45 pm  and the Gold Medal Game at 4:45pm

It was a great weekend for the Unrau siblings who represented Flin Flon and Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan at the Sask Winter Games in Meadow Lake.

Matthew Unrau won two Gold Medals in Cross Country Skiing in the U-12 Boys 700 M and the Skate Technique Distance.

His sister Charlotte won a Gold Medal in the U-14 Skate Distance and  two Bronze medals  in the U-14 Girls as well as the Relay. Deakon Anaka also participated in Cross Country Skiing and just missed a medal in the U-16 Boys finishing fourth.

Other Team North medals came from Genevieve Plante who won a Bronze in Judo and Hedde Andrews from Laronge who won a Gold in the U-12 Girls 700 M for Cross Country Skiing and a Silver for Abigail Birkham from Ile La Crosse also in Cross Country Skiing. 

Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach  also sent athletes for  the U-12 to 14 Futsal teams (Soccer) for both Boys and Girls. The kids didn't win any games but played hard and got much  better throughout the weekend.

It was a big weekend for the Northern Stars Club Volleyball Team who made their way to Moose Jaw for their first tournament of the year.

The Stars finished second in their pool with a record of 4-1.

The Stars would then face Weyburn in the playoffs and won the first set 25 to 15 before dropping the next two sets 16 to 25 and 11 to 15.

The girls played very well and finished fourth and are very happy with the results of their first tournament. The Stars next tournament will be in  Regina the weekend of March the 6th to the 7th.

The team is all girls from Flin Flon and coached by Ray Shirran and Heaven Graham.

The Uptown Curling Club in Flin Flon  hosted the Open Mixed Bonspiel this past weekend with 8 rinks taking part.

The finals went yesterday and it was the Dave Salahub Rink winning the A-Side with a 7 to 5 win over Patty Evans.

The B-Side was also close with Don Rose pulling out a 7 to 5 over Menno Giesbrecht. In the C-Side Don Holmes knocked off Les Vancoughnett 11 to 5.

Next up will be the Men's and Ladies Bonspiels coming up the weekend of March the 13th,14th and 15th.

It was a weekend that the long time Coach of the Flin Flon Bombers Mike Reagan will never forget. Not only did the Bombers sweep both games  against the Melville Millionaires, but Mike Reagan also picked up his 600th coaching victory on Friday in the 4 to 1 win.

All 600 coaching wins are behind the Bomber bench which began for the home town product in 2007. Reagan was originally brought in to be the Assistant Coach to Doug Stokes, but Stokes resigned just before the start of the 2007-08 season and the organization decided to give the former player a try ,  and the rest is history.

SJHL League Commissioner Kyle McIntire and Flin Flon Bomber President Tim Babcock made a special presentation to Reagan just prior to puck drop on Saturday to celebrate not only his 600 wins but being behind the bench for over 1000 games.

Friday night the Bombers came out flying with Jack Martin, Maverick Deslilse and Leo Seitz all finding the back of the net for a 3 to 0 lead after one period.

Wesley Olson would get the Mills on the board with a powerplay goal early in the second but Melville  couldn’t get any closer with Finn Werner shutting the door the rest of the way. Flin Flon would answer the Olson goal with Wyatt Stinton picking up his 14^th of the season, when he deposited a beautiful pass from Rhett Ewen in front of the Melville net to make the final 4 to 1.

There were no goals scored in the third period. Finn Werner was great once again and ended up with 22 saves on 23 shots to improve to 12-1 on the season to go along with a .929 save %.

Matt Spencer Dahl got the start for Melville and played well stopping 47 out of 51 shots .

I thought it took Melville a while to find their legs and  they seemed to play better as the night went on and their Coach Doug Johnson vowed his team would be better on Saturday and they were.

Flin Flon did start well again on Saturday and scored the first two goals of the game courtesy of Daniel Morozov( 8) and Maverick Deslilse (16), to go up 2 to 0 after one.

Hudson Binder jumped on a big rebound in front of the Bomber net early in the second to get the Mills on the board. Flin Flon responded and restored the two goal lead when Nathan Lalumiere was able to score when he pounced on a loose puck in the crease for his 5^th of the season.

Melville was a different team on Saturday and managed to make it a one goal game once again when defenseman Riley Craigen scored on a nice one timer, with Melville trailing 3 to 2 entering the final period.

Flin Flon got the league’s number one powerplay cooking and Daniel Morozov scored his second of the game and 9^th of the season which put the Bombers up 4 to 2.

That looked like it may be enough, but give Melville credit they kept fighting and managed to tie the game with two goals in the final 13 minutes courtesy of Yibin Yoo and Hudson Binder’s second of the night. Binder scored with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Binder’s second of the night quieted the Whitney Forum crowd and the home winning streak was all of a sudden in jeopardy as the game would head into Over Time.

The Bombers got a huge break when Melville took a penalty just over two minutes into the extra period  when Keil Schmalz got called for high sticking. Once again the league’s best powerplay would get a chance to go to work and try to  win the game.

Flin Flon peppered the net but could not get the winner on the powerplay but kept the pressure on when it went back to 3 on 3 and Leo Seitz was left alone in the slot and he scored low glove side on former Bomber netminder Massimo Urbani, as the Bombers avoided a scare and picked up the 5 to 4 OT victory.

Urbani came in the game in the third period to relieve starter Matt Spencer Dahl after he gave up the fourth goal. Urbani wasn’t tested much but stopped all 3 shots he faced in regulation and one of two shots in overtime.

Charlie Tritt started for Flin Flon and he stopped 29 out of 33 shots including 14 of 16 in the third period. Melville poured it on and if these two teams do meet in the playoffs, the Mills made it quite clear they will not be push overs.

Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan commented on his personal milestone from the weekend. “ It is definitely good to get that milestone but I mean it is just one win. The most important thing is we won the hockey game and we are focussed on what we are doing right now and what we are doing this year. It is not about the previous  599 or what ever, at the end of the day we are trying to accomplish something here this year and it just a number. Saying that I grew up being a huge Bomber fan billeting and playing for the Bombers and getting the opportunity to coach your home town team is special. There is no question I am proud of what we have been able to do here, there is a lot of other people here that have contributed to the team’s success and hopefully we can continue to grow the program and get better each and every year.”

You can make it 22 straight wins at home for the Bombers who improve to a league best 36-10-1-1 and now lead the second place Battleford Stars by 5 points with two games in hand. Melville will fall to 21-18-4-4 and if the playoffs were to start today, Melville would be the Bombers first round opponent.

A big weekend coming up for the Maroon and White who will host the Nipawin Hawks at the Whitney Forum on Tuesday before getting ready for a home and home with the defending league Champion Melfort Mustangs this weekend.

Melfort has reeled off 8 straight wins and have not only gotten back in the playoff picture, but find themselves in 6^th place overall. All three meetings should be a good test for the Bombers this week with the playoffs only a few weeks away.

Team North had a very busy day as the first  half athletes in wrestling went back home and the arrival of the second half sports in X-Country Ski, Judo, Badminton, Futsal and Figure Skating got ready for competition.

Cross Country Ski was able to hit the trials and got a practice in, they will start their races and competition this morning featuring Flin Flon's Deakon Anaka and Charlotte and Matthew Unrau.

 The  lone figure skater Christina McDougald will also start her dance competition today. Male Futsal hit the floor last night against Lakeland and Team North played hard but were defeated 14-5. The girl's futsal team also got going against team Regina and played hard but were defeated. These are players from Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach in the 12 to 14 age category.

Both male and female futsal's teams will be busy with a pair of games today. The  athletes from Hall Lake participated well in Badminton  against SouthWest district. They finished 1-6 in their matches with the one win in mixed doubles.

The  lone Judo athlete Genevieve Plante from La Ronge finished third in category Ne Waza +53kg competition and Won bronze to give Team North their  first medal of the games. 

The Open Mixed Curling  Bonspiel will kick off tomorrow at the Uptown Curling Club in Flin Flon with 8 rinks taking part.

The first draw is at 10am and it will be Sue Chrisp taking on Patty Evans, Paul Harrison is up against Menno Giesbrecht, Laurie Salahub VS Les Vancoughnet and Don Rose squares off with Don Holmes.

There will be another draw Saturday at 2pm and  the supper is  at 5pm.

All the finals will be played Sunday at 1pm.

The 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games are underway in Meadow Lake.

There are athletes from Creighton, Denare Beach and Flin Flon that are competing for Team North in Indoor Soccer and Cross Country Ski-ing.

The three  skiers from Flin Flon include Deakon Anaka,  Charlette and Matthew Unrau.

There are two indoor soccer teams including both a Male and Female 12 to 14 team.

The Male team is coached by David Flynn and Kara Kozar, while the Female team is coached by Eric Christianson and Nicole Kendrick.

Team North Male Soccer Team will play their first game at 4pm today against the Lakeland District while Female North will play at 7:15 tonight against Regina.

Cross Country ski-ing will start tomorrow at 9am.

It is the best time of year for curling in Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, as it is Bonspiel season.

The Flin Flon Curling Club has announced the dates for the Ladies Bonspiel which will take place March the 13th,14th and 15th.

It is $200.00 per team and there is a sign up sheet on the bulletin  board at the Uptown Curling Club.

This is one of the best bonspiels of the year which includes not only great curling, but a great meal and a lot of good prizes.

A busy weekend is coming up for the Flin Flon Bombers as they will host the Melville Millionaires in a pair of games at the Whitney Forum Friday and Saturday.

The Bombers will also host a Skills Competition this Sunday alongside the U-13 Kinsmen Bombers starting at 3pm.

There will be a $5.00 admission fee and the action will include fastest skater, hardest shot, a break away competition and more.

It will be a chance to bring out the whole family for an afternoon of hockey and community spirit. Everyone is also invited to come out for a fee skate with the Bombers which will take place betwen 5 and 6pm.

The U13 kinsmen bombers wrapped up their tournament schedule for the season this past weekend at the Prince Berscheid memorial tournament in Thompson.

The tournament hosted teams from across the north in various divisions. The Bombers would compete in the top tiered division with The Pas Huskies and Thompson King Miners.

The Bombers  posted 3 wins and 1 lost in the double round robin and secured a sport in the championship game where they were defeated by the host Miners 5-0.

Overall it was another competitive weekend for the Bombers who now shift their focus on the U13B provincials which will be hosted in Flin Flon March 13-15th. The team feels very strong heading into the last month of the season and are excited for the opportunity to host.

They are still looking for volunteers to help out in various capacities including taking tickets at the door, music, selling 50/50 tickets and helping out with the Penny Parade.

In front of a packed gym at Hapnot Collegiate this past weekend, the JV Queens did not disappoint the home town crowd as they breezed to another Zone Basketball title.

The Queens beat both Cranberry and Split Lake handily to book their spot in the final.

The Queens would meet up with MBCI out of The Pas and once again were impressive winning the Zone batter with a convincing 67 to 19 victory.

Hapnot will now represent the North at Provincials the weekend of March the 12th to the 14th in Gladstone.

JV Boy's Zones took place in Cranberry this past weekend.

The Hapnot Kings lost both their round robin games to Cranberry and Cross Lake. The Kings did win their last game against Split Lake 69 to 61 to finish fifth.

The host FCI Raiders took the Zone Banner  with an exciting 88 to 78 win over MBCI out of The Pas in the final.

Cranberry will now represent the North in Boy's Provincials the weekend of March the 12th to the 14th in Carman.

You knew it had to happen  sometime, that the Flin Flon Bombers were eventually going to lose a hockey game.

It happened this past Friday when the Bombers made their way to Kindersley to play a desperate Klippers team trying to hang on to a playoff spot.

Flin Flon were unbeaten in their previous 16 games and hadn’t lost in regulation since dropping a game in North Battleford on December the 12^th.

Friday night the Bombers started slow and didn’t seem to find their legs til the second period,  but it wasn’t their night as they dropped a 4 to 1 decision against a very determined Klipper team who played one of their most complete games of the season.

Jared Miskiw was the only Bomber to find the back of the net on Friday when he swooped in on a nice pass from Xavier Fauchon , and fired a puck over Brett O’Hallorin’s right shoulder for a picture perfect goal. This was the only puck that got past O’Hallorin who was rock solid and ended up with 32 saves on 33 shots.

Kindersley got their goals from Rylan Wieler, Luke Ridgway, Bryson Aikens and Russ Demo.

Charlie Tritt got the start for the Bombers and suffered his first regulation loss since coming over in the trade from Humboldt , but played well making 20 saves on 23 shots. Among his big saves was stopping a 2 on 0 midway through the second period.

Despite the loss  the Bombers had their chances, but I think Kindersley was the hungrier team and did a lot of the little things well including blocking a lot of shots. The game was also very slow with a lot of whistles and there wasn’t much flow.

Flin Flon would get a chance for redemption on Saturday and it was a completely different game which opened up quite a bit and Flin Flon was able to utilize their speed and were moving the puck very well.

After a scoreless opening period, Kindersley would once again open up the scoring. Pryce Thiessen was able to jump on a rebound in front of the Bomber net and capitalize on an early Klipper powerplay.

Charlie Tritt would once again get the start and he and the Bombers shut the door the rest of the way, with Flin Flon scoring four straight to win the rematch 4 to 1.

Brett O’Hallorin was once again standing on his head and I Wasn’t sure the Bombers were going to be able to get a puck past him the way he was playing.

Nash Holmes had other ideas and  picked a good time to get his first ever SJHL goal,  when he scored from an awkward angle and fooled O’Hallorin with a shot from the right corner.

This sparked the Bombers and they started to take over the game. The game winner was scored late in the second period when local product Wyatt Stinton scored a beautiful powerplay goal from the slot, going low blocker on O’Hallorin for his 13^th of the season.

With Flin Flon leading 2 to 1 heading into the final period, the Bombers got a huge break when Jack Martin intercepted a pass just inside the Kindersley blue line and went in and beat O’Hallorin short handed for a 3 to 1 lead.

This changed the whole complexion  of the  game as Flin Flon took complete control and Kindersley came unhinged and took a ton of undisciplined penalties.

It all began with the Klippers Cobe Perlinger slashing the Bombers Joey Lies in the face with one of the most vicious incidents I have witnessed in many years. There was no penalty called and Lies left the ice right away to get medical attention in the dressing room before heading to the hospital. Lies was to see a doctor in Saskatoon before heading back to Flin Flon early in the week.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of the Klipper antics and they would take 6 straight penalties and were down two men for 7 straight minutes. The good thing for them was their goalie Brett O’Hallorin was on his game and he kept the Bombers at bay and didn’t give up a single goal on the 7 minute powerplay. Flin Flon ended up 1 for 9 while Kindersley was 1 for 4.

Flin Flon was missing a number of their offensive weapons including Lies who left after that horrible slash, Stinton also  left the game after a  elbow high to the head. The Bombers also didn’t have Connor Miller, Ryder Mucha, Maverick Deslisle, Ryder Knutson and Kyle Marsden who were all out due to injury but found a way to get it done.

The Bombers would add one more goal late as Reid Arberry would pick up his 20^th of the year with an empty netter,  with just over a minute remaining for the 4 to 1 win.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan was fired up after the game.” I am proud of the guys for fighting through a lot of BS that was just uncalled for. We know teams want to play us tough and physical, but there is no room for that in the game. I am pretty disappointed as I had some words for the Kindersley bench especially for the high hits. Joey Lies takes a baseball swing to the face  and there is no call,  and it sure is frustrating that neither of the officials made the call and saw anything. We will be speaking to the league directly and going from there. I am very happy with how our guys stuck up for each other,  and there comes a point when enough is enough.”

The good news is that Flin Flon was able to respond after the loss and now sit first overall at 34-10-1-1, 70 points which is 5 up on the second place Battleford Stars and 8 points up on the third place Yorkton Terriers.

Kindersley continues to find themselves in quite the battle for a playoff spot and right now sit in 7^th spot with 49 points, which is only two points up on Melville and Humboldt. Melfort has all of a sudden moved to within 3 points of Kindersley and are red hot at 7-2-1 in their last ten.

It is going to be very interesting to see how it all shakes down here the last few weeks of the season. The Bombers will host another desperate team this weekend as the Melville Millionaires who are clinging on to the last playoff spot, make their way to the Whitney Forum Friday and Saturday.

The two teams split the first two meetings in Melville with the Bombers winning the last game 3 to 0 back on January the 31^st. Puck drop Friday and Saturday is 7:30pm.

Congratulations to home town product Wyatt Stinton on being chosen the Flin Flon Bomber  Northland Ford Player Of The Week.

Stinton picked up a pair of goals in the Bombers Shoot Out Win on Friday against Weyburn including the Shoot Out winner. Wyatt is having a break out season and is now up to 29 points in 31 games including a career high 12 goals.

Stinton and the Bombers who only have one regulation loss in the last two months will hit the road this weekend as they will travel to Kindersley to face the Klippers.

The Klippers will be a desperate team as they are fighting to hold on to one of the last playoff spots and are just two points up on the 8th place Melville Millionaires.

Puck drop this Friday is 6:30pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday at  the Inter Pipeline Events Centre and both games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.

The U-13 Kinsmen Bombers will get one more tune up tournament before hosting Provincials in March,  as they are off to Thompson for the U-13 Prince Berscheid Tournament.

The tournament will be a double round robin with the Thompson King Miners and The Pas Huskies.

The top two teams after round robin play with compete for the championship Sunday afternoon. The Bombers begin action on Friday at 2pm as they square off with the host Miners. 

The Gold Medal game will be played Sunday afternoon at 2:45pm.

Hapnot will be the host for JV Girl Basketball Zones this weekend which will kick on Friday.

The Queens will open up the tournament against Cranberry at 10am on Friday then play Split Lake at 5:30pm.

Playoffs start Saturday at 12:30 with the Girls Final at 3pm.

The JV Boys  Zones are in Cranberry and the Kings will play the host team at 10am and Cross Lake at 6:45pm. 

Playoffs start Saturday at 1:30 pm with the Boys Final at 5pm.

There are some slight changes for up coming curling dates at the Uptown Curling Club.

Changes for Drop In Curling include Stick Curling for this Friday February the 13th at 7pm.

Glow Curling for Friday March the 6th at 7pm. Bocce Curling has been cancelled.

There is a $5.00 drop in fee and members of the Flin Flon Curling Club will be attending and willing to give pointers.

The Flin Flon Bombers have announced a new fundraiser to help raise funds for the team's new bus.

The Bombers will square off with the Flin Flon Firemen with members of the Creighton and Denare Beach Fire Department's in a charity game coming up on Sunday March the 8th between 6 and 8pm at the Whitney Forum.

There will be a 50/50 draw, door prizes and commemorative T-shirts. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors with all the proceeds going towards the Bombers new bus.

The phantom lake soccer club is now recruiting division coordinators and travel coaches for the upcoming 2026 outdoor season. If you are a well organized leader, you are the person they are looking for.

The U-18 CO-OP Bombers travelled to Gimli for the Gimli Vikings Cup this past weekend.

The Bombers played very well beating St Adolphe, Gimli and Selkirk in the round robin. The Bombers finished first in their pool and advanced to the Gold Medal game.

Flin Flon played the Mitchell Mustangs and came up short losing 6 to 3 and will come home with the Silver Medal.

It was a great weekend for the U-18 Bombers who continue to improve and play more competitive throughout this season.

It was a very busy weekend for a number of Hapnot's High School Basketball teams.

It was also another impressive weekend for the Senior Queens who were in MacGregor and were perfect with wins over Carman and  7th ranked Prairie Mountain.

That put the Senior Queens in the finals where they beat the number four ranked team in the province Westpark 60 to 57 to win the tournament.

The JV Queens were in Brandon for the Java Jam and they were also impressive with wins over Edward Schreyer, Selkirk and Crocus Plains out of Brandon.

That put the JV Queens in the final against the number 5 ranked team in the province, Sisler and the Queens lost 61 to 43 to finish second against some of the best competition in the province.

The Senior Kings were at a tournament in St Boniface and ended up going 1-2, with their one win against the  St Boniface JV'S and their two losses came against Louis Riel and the ST Boniface AAA team.

A big weekend is coming up with JV Basketball Zones taking place with the Girls games in Flin Flon and the Boys games are scheduled for Cranberry. Games will take place Friday and Saturday and we will have updates throughout the weekend on 102.9 CFAR.

It was a big weekend for the Flin Flon Ski Club who got a chance to host the Sask Cup Ski Races with a total of 55  skiers coming in from Laronge, Saskatoon, Regina Ile La Crosse, Hudson Bay and a strong contingent from Flin Flon.

The Flin Flon skiers were very impressive this past weekend and here are their results.

Deacon Anaka placed first in the U16 Boys,  James Schmidt placed first in Senior Men Charlotte Unrau skied up a category against much older skiers and came a close fourth in the U16 girls category.

 Lucy Dumenko took bronze in the U12 Girls and the Flin Flon boys really tore down the slopes in the U12 boys taking all three podium positions.

 Mathew Unrau placed first, Luke Unrau placed second and Michael
 Dumenko placed third. 

On Sunday the Flin Flon skiers were a force once again on their home
 slopes.

Deacon Anaka once again took first in the 10.5 km Classic race. Mathew Unrau was first in the U12 boys category.

Lucy Dumenko was bronze in the U12 Girls,  Charlotte Unrau won the U 14 girls by over four minutes over her  closest competitor.

The recent snowfall and milder temperatures have created some fantastic ski conditions at the Flin Flon Ski Club and you are more than welcome to come out and ski any time you wish.

It was a stiff test for the Flin Flon Bombers this past weekend as they hosted the Weyburn Red Wings in a pair of games at the Whitney Forum.

Weyburn appeared to have the Bombers number the last few seasons and had beat them in 9 of the last 12 meetings including the SJHL Semi Final from this past Spring. Weyburn was able to jump out with a three games to none lead and eventually won the series in six games.

The Wings had also won the two meetings in Weyburn this year including a 3 to 2 win in OT back on January the 28^th, which was the Bombers only loss in the entire month of January.

I think it is safe  to say this is a different Bomber team,  who are enjoying one of their most successful seasons in franchise history and are now an incredible 20-0 at home after two more wins this weekend.

Flin Flon was able to win in the shoot-out 3 to 2 on Friday behind a terrific goaltending display from Charlie Tritt. Tritt stopped 33 out of 35 shots including some huge saves in the third period and Over Time, with the Bombers clearly back on their heels.

Flin Flon also took a penalty in Over Time and went down 4 on 3, but Tritt held his team in it and was able to keep the Wings at bay with a lot of timely saves and excellent rebound control.

Local product Wyatt Stinton led the way offensively with two goals including the winner in the Shoot-Out. Stinton is having a break out season and now has 12 goals, which is a career high. Daniel Morozov had the other Flin Flon goal, when he scored on a juicy rebound in the first period.

Drew Molde and Ryder Rommelaere had the goals for Weyburn. Joey Rocha made his Whitney Forum debut and was rock solid making 27 saves on 29 shots.

We would see two new netminders on Saturday with the Bombers electing to go with Finn Werner who was 10-1 on the season and is coming off a great month of January where he registered three shut-outs.

Weyburn started Nate Stevens who is no slouch either and was 10-4 entering the game on Saturday.

Flin Flon came out flying in the rematch and were rewarded on goals from Connor Miller (20)  and Ryder Mucha (16), to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Luke Dekay responded for Weyburn on the powerplay, when he flipped in a loose puck in front of the Bomber net to beat Werner for his 10^th of the year and get the Wings on the board.

Flin Flon scored the only goal of the second when Pierce Yakimchuk fired a nice low shot that fooled Stevens late in the frame to give the Bombers a two goal cushion at 3 to 1.

It looked like the Bombers were on their way when Jack Martin(12) and Landon Alexander(11) scored 8 seconds apart to give Flin Flon a commanding 5 to 1 lead early in the third period.

Weyburn didn’t quit and they did manage to score a couple of goals courtesy of Roan Burgess and Callas Pierce to make it 5 to 3.

Pierce Yakimchuk was able to seel it with his second of the night and 7^th of the year,  when he scored into the empty net to make the final 6 to 3. Flin Flon was able to pick up their first weekend sweep of the Wings in a number of years.

Flin Flon continues to pile up the points and wins and are now a league best 33-9-1-1, 68 points which is 7 up on the second place Battleford Stars and ten points up on the third place Yorkton Terriers and Nipawin Hawks.

Weyburn will fall to 26-14-1-3 and are currently 5^th spot, but are just two points behind third place Yorkton and Nipawin.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan talks about the 20 straight home wins. “ It is a great accomplishment,  and you can’t go through a whole regular season without goals for your team and setting standards.We would of never guessed we would be in this position right now and it is impressive and I don’t ever remember a Bomber team going this deep without a home loss. I knew we were going to have a good team and you never know your younger players are going to respond their first year in the league. We knew we were going to have to get  scoring from 10 to 15 guys with ten or more goals and we have got that.”

Next up for the Bombers will be a trip to Kindersley to battle a Klippers team that is barely hanging on to a playoff spot with 46 points,  and are just one point up on the 7^th and 8^th place Melville Millionaires and Estevan Bruins. Kindersley is also just two points up on the 9^th place Humboldt Broncos, so they need to have a good weekend against Flin Flon to stay in the race.

It is the weekend that everyone has been waiting for,  with two of the most exciting teams in the SJHL ready to go head to head.

The red hot Flin Flon Bombers will host the high flying Weyburn Red Wings in a pair of games tonight and tomorrow at the Whitney Forum.

The Bombers just wrapped up a very successful 4 game road trip where they were able to collect 7 out of a possible 8 points. The only blemish was a 3 to 2 OT loss to the Wings, which was their only loss in the entire month of January.

Weyburn has beaten Flin Flon  in both matchups so far this season and have actually taken 9 of the last 12 meetings head to head, including last Spring's SJHL Semi Final in 6 games.

For  what ever reason,  Weyburn has had the Bombers number especially at the Whitney Forum winning 4 of the last 5 games.

Saying that, the Bombers are really rolling this year with the best record in the league at 31-9-1-1, good for 64 points. Not to mention they are a perfect 18-0 at home but should get a really good test this weekend.

The Wings are sitting third overall at 26-13-1-2 and are currently two points behind second place Battleford and just one point up on the fourth place Yorkton Terriers and Nipawin Hawks.

This is a huge weekend for Weyburn who not only want to get closer to the Bombers, but stay ahead of Yorkton and Nipawin.

Weyburn has been a little inconsistent in  their last ten games at 5-4-1 and are coming off a 2 to 0 loss in Nipawin on Wednesday. A good weekend in Flin Flon could really give them a big confidence boost down the stretch. 

One of the big question marks for Flin Flon heading into the weekend will be the staus on injuries. The Bombers were down a number of players on the last road trip including Joey Lies, Sam Ward, Ryder Knutson, Maverick Deslisle and Landon Alexander.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan was hoping to get a few guys back for this weekend but none have been confirmed so far for tonight.

These two teams line up for very good against one another and are two of the highest  scoring teams in the league with Flin Flon leading the league in goals with 185 and have also given up the least with 104.

Weyburn is ranked fourth in goals for with 162 and are in the middle of the pack when it comes to goals against with 141.

The Wings are led offensively by the duo of Josh Sale and Lucas Schmid who were big parts of the Weyburn team that made it to the SJHL Final last Spring. The recently acquired Will Munro from Melfort has helped out offensively as well and has picked up 20 points in 19 games since coming over in the trade.

The Bombers continue to score by committee and this might be the most balanced team I have seen here for a very long time. Flin Flon has ten players in double figures in goals and continue to have the league's best powerplay at 26.8 %.

It should be a great weekend of hockey with what many people think could end up being the two teams in the league final.

No radio broadcast tonight but we are back at it tomorrow with the SJHL Pre Game Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30 for Creighton Furniture.

The Senior Creighton Kodiak Girls basketball team will be in Shellbrook for a Senior Girls basketball tournament starting today.

Besides the Creighton Kodiaks there will be teams from Shellbrook, Waidheim, Hepburn, Birch Hills, Nipawin and Carlton and St Mary from Prince Albert.

Creighton's first game is tonight at 8pm VS St Mary. If the Kodiaks win they will play tomorrow at noon, if they lose they will play tomorrow at 10:30am.

Playoffs will continue throughout Saturday with the Gold Medal game at 7:30pm.

Good luck to the Hapnot JV Queens who are of to Warren for the Java Jam tournament this weekend.

The Queens are in a pool with Crocus Plains out of Brandon, Selkirk and Edward Schreyer out of Winnipeg.

The Queens will play Edward Schreyer tonight at 6pm then play Selkirk at 10:45 am on Friday and Crocus Plains at 4:15pm. Playoffs begin Saturday morning at 9am with the Championship Final at 2pm.

The Senior Queens are in MacGregor and will play Carman Friday  at 5pm and if they win they will play Saturday at 10:30 am, and if they lose would play Saturday at 9am.

The Championship Final will be played on Saturday  at 4:30pm.

The Senior Kings are in ST Boniface and will open things up against Louis Riel at 4:30pm on Friday. If the Kings win their first game they would play Saturday at 1pm or if they lose they would drop down to the Consolation and play Saturday at 10am.

The Championship Final will go at 7pm.

The Uptown Curling Club in Flin Flon is hosting an Open Mixed Bonspiel the weekend of Feb 21st and 22nd for all ages.

The entre fee is $50.00 per person and supper is included in entry fee.  Junior Curlers can enter for free but will have to pay for their meal, with extra meals $25.00 each.

There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in Curling Club Lobby and you should have one member of the opposite sex on your team. Cut off date is Wednesday February the 18th at 1pm.

Flin Flon will send two U-7 Minor Hockey Teams to the Pas this weekend for the U-7 Twin Motors and Cooke and Cook Tournament.

All the games will take place this Saturday at the Roy H Johnston Arena with other teams including The Pas,  Snow Lake, Swan Valley, Thompson and Cross Lake all taking part.

Flin Flon Team White's first game is Saturday at 10am against Swan Valley Gray Blue and Flin Flon Bombers Maroon will also play at 10am VS Swan Valley Team  White.

It has been a very busy winter at the Flin Flon Ski Club who are getting ready to celebrate Valentine's Day with a Family Poker Derby.

You are invited to come out to the Ski Club  on Saturday February the 14th between 2:30 pm and 9 and is open to every member of the family.

Each skier who skies a lap on the course will be eligible to draw a card from the deck at the Chalet. You can register as an individual, team or family.

The best Poker Hands will be awarded prizes, to be presented after the event.

Snacks and Beverages will be provided by the Flin Flon Kin Club between 5 and 7pm.

Bust The Winter Blues is only a few weeks away and the Border Explorers Snowmobile Club will be holding their Frozen Aces Poker Derby.

It takes place on Sunday March the 1st with registration between 10am and noon at the Sportex. Return by 4pm.

Ghost hands are available from all members for $10.00 each or 3 for $20.00.

The Flin Flon Ski Club is getting ready for an exciting weekend as they will host some of the best skiers in Western Canada.

It will be the Saskatchewan Cup Races which will take place Saturday and Sunday with races starting at 10am both days.

Flin Flon is expecting to have a strong local team with six Juniors taking part and three Seniors.

Flin Flon will be led by Michael and Lucy Dumenko who just won their divisions at the Humboldt Sask Cup last weekend.Charlotte and Mathew Unrau recently placed high at the recent Western Canadian Trials in Canmore Alberta.

There is no admission and the public is encouraged to come out and cheer on all the skiers this weekend as they compete on some of the best trails in Western Canada.

The month of January has come to an end and it was a good one for the Flin Flon Bombers.

Flin Flon didn't lose a single game in regulation and finished the month at 10-0-1-0 with just the single OT loss to Weyburn.

The SJHL has recognized the Bomber's fine play with two of their players receiving   monthly honors.

The terrific young netminder Finn Werner is the Saskmilk Rookie Of The Month. Werner went 5-0 with three shutouts and his numbers were through the roof with a 1.20 GAA and Save % of .954.

Along with 20 year old veteran Charlie Tritt, you could argue the Bombers have the best goaltending duo in the SJHL.

Xavier Fauchon who just received a Player Of The Week nod,  is the Super U Defenseman Of The Month for picking up 12 points in the 11 games played. Fauchon has been impressive since training camp and continues to be one of the best puck moving d-man in the league.

A great test for the Bombers this weekend as they welcome the Weyburn Red Wings to town for a pair of games. Weyburn is the only team with a winning record against Flin Flon this season and they have actually beaten the Bombers  9 out of the last 12 times that they have played.

The Wings knocked the Bombers out of the playoffs last year in the SJHL Semi Final and both these teams will be using this weekend as statement games.

The Flin Flon Bombers are on an incredible tear,  and have just returned from a very successful road trip that saw them take 7 out of a possible 8 points.

They are very deep and seem to have different players rise to the occasion every night, and were awarded with three of their players being recognized by the SJHL.

The SJHL has handed out their weekly honors and congratulations to Reid Arberry who is the Borgault Forward Of The Week. Arberry picked up 7 points on the road trip and also has an 11 game point streak, the longest in the SJHL.

Xavier Fauchon is the Super U Defenseman Of The Week. Fauchon also had a very good road trip and picked up 6 assists in the four games including 3 assists in the win over Nipawin last Tuesday.

Charlie Tritt is the Sasktel Goalie Of The Week. The college bound 20 year old was 2-0-0-1 on the trip and made 31 saves in shutting out Melville in a 3-0 win on Saturday for his fourth shut out of the season. Tritt's numbers for the week included a .929 save % and 2.29 GAA.

The U-7 Timbit Bombers travelled down to Thompson for the Wayne Zahayko Memorial Tournament this past weekend.

The Bombers played well and won all three of their games against Snow Lake, Cross Lake and Thompson.

Flin Flon will send two U-7 teams to The Pas this weekend for the U-7 Twin Motors and Cook and Cook Tournament. They will be the Flin Flon Bombers Maroon and Flin Flon Bombers Team White.

All the games will take place this Saturday February the 7th with the Flin Flon Bombers Team White VS Swan River at 10am and the Flin Flon Bombers Team Maroon will play Swan Valley Team White also at 10am.

Round robin will wrap up at 5:15pm.

The Caleb Janzen Memorial Basketball Tournament took place in Creighton this past weekend with games in both the Girls and Boys Divisions.

It was a round robin tournament with the Hapnot  Queens finishing first at 3-0, followed by Creighton at 2-1, Sturgis at 1-2 and Tisdale finished 0-3.

Congratulations to the tournament all stars Taylor Burwash from Hapnot and Ruby Karakochuk of Creighton.

On the Boys side,  it was the Hapnot Kings finishing  a perfect 3-0. The Creighton Kodiak Boys were second at 2-1, Tisdale 1-2 and Churchill out of Laronge ended up 0-3.

Tournament All Stars were Logan Simon from Hapnot and Deakon Anaka from Creighton.

Next up for the Hapnot Senior Queens will be a tournament in MacGregor this weekend, while the Senior Kings are off to ST Boniface to compete at a tournament in Winnipeg.

The JV Queens will be hosting Zones in Flin Flon, February the 13th and 14th while the JV Kings will be in Cranberry.

The Kodiak Girls are off to Shellbrook this up coming weekend.

Flin Flon Bombers Return Home with 7 out of a possible 8 points.

What a road trip for the Flin Flon Bombers who looked impressive in Melville on Saturday, blanking the home town Mills 3 to 0 to take 7 out of a possible 8 points in the four games.

Reid Arberry (19), Keaton Lesperance (5) and Wyatt Stinton (11) scored the goals while Bomber netminder Charlie Tritt stopped all 31 shots fired in his direction for his fourth shutout of the season and first as a Bomber. The other three came as a member of the Humboldt Broncos.

It was back to back shutouts for Flin Flon , who knocked off Estevan 7 to 0 the night before with home town product Ryder Mucha leading the way with three points including his 14^th and 15^th goals of the season.  

Finn  Werner stopped 30 shots and he improves to 10-1 on the season with a staggering GAA of 1.73 and Save  % of .931 to go along with three shutouts.

The road trip began on Tuesday with a 7 to 4 win against division rival Nipawin 7 to 4. Joey Lies had the hat-trick, his second of the year which helped the Bombers grab some early momentum, and get the trip started on the right foot.

The only blemish was a 3 to 2 OT loss in Weyburn on Wednesday. This was one of the best played and by far the best pace of any game in the SJHL this season.

These two teams brought it for what many people think may be a preview of the league final this year. Joey Lies found the back of the net for his 22^nd of the year, but unfortunately left the game with an upper body injury shortly after  and didn’t suit up again for the rest of the trip. Head Coach and GM for the Bombers Mike Reagan didn’t rule out  Lies returning to the lineup this weekend.

Reid Arberry scored the other goal and he had a great road trip collecting 7 points in the four games including two goals.

The Bombers end up going 3-0-1 on the road trip and now lead the overall standings at 31-9-1-1, good for 64 points which is now 9 points up on the second place Weyburn Red Wings and Battleford Stars.

The Bomber powerplay was absolutely lethal and ended up going 9 for 21 in the four games and they also managed to score a couple of short handed goals.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan was very happy with how the road trip went last week. “ We are extremely proud of the guys and how we played. I think out of the four games that we played,  we were really good in about three and a half of them. I didn’t like our second period in Weyburn, but I thought we played a decent first and a decent third. Then when you get to overtime and anything can happen. Especially the fourth game in Melville we were really banged up and lost some key players,  but the guys grinded it out and got the job done. It was also huge for both our goaltenders to get a shutout on the road trip as well.”

The Bombers will return home to face the Weyburn Red Wings at the Whitney Forum this weekend. Weyburn is the only team to have a winning record against the Bombers the last two seasons and have now beaten Flin Flon in 9 of the last 12 meetings and eliminated them in 6 games in last year’s SJHL Semi Final.

If Weyburn wants to catch Flin Flon for first overall they may have to sweep them this weekend. This will be a good test for the Bombers who will be putting their perfect 18-0 home record on the line. Hopefully the building is packed for what should be the two best games of the year. Games are set for Friday and Saturday with puck drop both nights at 7:30pm.

A big congratulations are in order for long time Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan on once again surpassing 1000 games behind the Bomber bench.

Only the legendary Dwight McMillan who coached Weyburn for almost four decades,  has coached more games in the history of the SJHL.

The league will recognize this achievement in the next few weeks.
